EVERYDAY
Everyday, seems a little closer, Goin' faster than a roller coaster, Love like yours will truly come my way, (hey, hey, hey)
Everyday, it's a gettin' faster, Everyone says go on up and ask her, Love like yours will truly come my way, (hey, hey, hey)
Everyday, seems a little longer, And every way, love's a little stronger, Come what may, do you never long for True love from me?

I love Buddy Holly. His songwriting, his playing, and his singing were distinctive in their time. He had a style that was not easily imitated, so many of his songs were reimagined when performed by other artists. Usually without the nimbleness of the originals.
Pearl Jam isn’t known for their nimbleness, but they are known for their thoughtfulness when undertaking covers. They performed this tune only once. In Buddy Holly’s hometown of Lubbock, Texas in 2000. And after listening to that version, it’s a shame that they never performed it again. It’s another example of what a great cover band they can be. In Buddy Holly’s hands it is a whimsical, charming tune with upright bass, thigh slaps and a chiming celesta for accompaniment. I’ve heard many versions of the song, and many artists don’t seem to understand that simplicity can be the key to an effective cover. The replacement of the thigh slaps with rhythm guitar, the addition of drums and the heavier bass sound make the song a rock song, but Pearl Jam’s version retains the essential light-heartedness. Eddie doesn’t quite know what to do with the hey-heys, but PJ’s version is fun and charming and feels like a celebration of true love, or something like that. 3 stars.
For those who haven't heard it, hopefully this link will work:

I just compiled a disc of covers that the band has done over the years and this definitely made the cut. Its nice to see the band honor Buddy Holly with this rendition. Nice work.

I was there for this song in Lubbock, and of the 25 or so shows I have been to, this was definitely a highlight. I am not a big Buddy Holly fan by any means, but this was definitely one of those moments that makes you want to see Pearl Jam as many times as you possibly can.
