Yep, was the same reason he had to pull out of a gig and Niel Young took over (how he was in the right place at the right time I don't know!) The line "I was not allowed to leave the room" is interesting, wonder if it was so serious he had to be isolated?

i always got a different meaning out of this:

i always thought it was about fears, and the fears in this song are represented by a metaphorical vampire (2 opunctures in your neck, AND hovering right outside your room) and how someone can run from those fears until they catch up with you. then i thought the lines "if i had knownk now what i know now" were the after affects of facing those fears and having seen that they werent that bad and you should have faced them in the begginning. dont know if that makes sense to you all, im real drunk.

I always thought it was about addiction of some sort, but i've heard that story too.
(I love how PJ songs are open to more than one interpretation :D )

It's clearly about the symbiotic nature of America's debt with China and China's need to sell products to America, and how that relationship can neither survive forever nor become something that either party can either escape.

That, or sex.

no, you're thinking about alice in chains. it's their songs that are all about heroin. every single one of them. yes, even rooster.

How long has it been since this made a setlist somewhere? Seems like it dropped off the edge of the earth.

I never listen to the studio version, but this is one of their best live songs by far.
