I don't know. It seems like a local Australian release since it's not listed anywhere else. I doubt the DVD is anything more than the videos from 10. PJ is not on Sony anymore so it's not all that likely that either party is interested in anything more than a repackaging with bonuses that Sony does very very often with their former and deceased artists. They also don't do DVD-A but SACD so it's not that either. Maybe it will disappear just like the World Wide single box or whatever that was.

Yeah, it might just fall off the radar...but...it is interesting, given the 10C email about dredging up Ten-era junk and asking fans to nominate their favourite live versions of Ten songs from '08.
I think something will come of this -and hopefully it'll involve more than just one CD and one DVD, given that it costs $110.
I don't see why the band wouldn't work with Sony on an archival release if they're going to rake in dough from it - see the Greatest Hits for example, that was done post-Sony and the band were involved in the tracklisting, artwork and also gave a post-Sony song to them to include (Man of the Hour).
EDIT:
Just noticed the difference between the two links...
So, based on previous sets like this I've seen and own, I'm going to engage in some wild speculation (let's see in four weeks if I'm right!)
DELUXE EDITION 1 CD - Remixed version of Ten (with appropriate b-sides/outtakes) 1 DVD - Ten-era TV appearances/promo videos/live clips + 2008 tour Ten songs as a bonus
COLLECTOR'S EDITION Same as above plus a hardcover booklet stuffed with photos/interviews etc. plus possibly another CD or DVD with extra material not included above (more outtakes, maybe a Ten tour live show).

I think the greatest hits after the split is like an obligation of sorts. Also weren't they unenthusiastic about it in the 1st place? I thought of the 10C email but that seems like too short before the release - a month from tomorrow. And it's 110A$ which should be around 88$. Still very expensive for a CD and DVD box.

See possible breakdown of what might be included in my speculative post above.
The release date could be inaccurate, we might see it postponed til closer to (ching-ching!) Christmas. I hope this date's on the money though, would make a tasty birthday present!

As far as I know, Sony were going to do it one way or another (if the band were involved or not) - so the band decided to swallow their pride and get involved to make it a stronger release.
Who's to say this isn't the same case? Maybe Sony made them aware they were planning to cash in on Pearl Jam's recent (semi) commercial comeback with the S/T album by releasing a Ten reissue and the band decided they'd rather be involved than not.
(Here's some more wild speculation...)
I wonder if the mysterious World Wide Singles box ties into the above - it may have been perhaps that Sony were going to release a rather dull singles box set when the band approached them and suggested a Ten reissue with accompanying DVD and outtakes would be a better release, both financially and in terms of fan-appeal?...

Ah no. 10 doesn't have any more fan appeal than all their singles in a box. All the same people would by both in my opinion. If i remember correctly that single box was a local release too, right? The German Sony re-released 10 on vinyl last year in a series they did. It's similar to this.
On the other hand if they wanted to do this (which is a possibility) they would have to do it trough Sony.
Still the release date is highly suspicious and the price shall we admit it is quite outrageous and just screams for a "sell out" that the band gets for far less.
That's what i had in mind about the greatest hits.

I disagree with this hugely; I know plenty of casual fans who'd shell out for a fat and juicy edition of Ten, an album that soundtracked their youth, and would have zero interest in a trainspotter's collection of singles from the band's whole career.
That's definitely more of a limited appeal item if you ask me.

I think the price is pretty much on a par with other "deluxe" and "collector's" sets - every second-rate band is throwing them out these days, this is at least an album that deserves that treatment.
My only gripe is I just know that the audio will be smashed to death like the Greatest Hits and S/T album.

I'll correct that. I don't think the amount of people who'd by either would be significally different and the bulk of those buyers would buy both because both releases are aimed for fans that aren't just casual fans.

I did a search on amazon.com and there aren't cd/dvd deluxe editions there that would make those 88$ anything but above average and by a lot. Their ticket prices are not higher than other acts but that doesn't prevent people to complain about it. Besides they released a 7 CD box set last year for less.

Yeah that's a given.

Your average Australian CD or DVD will cost around $25-$30 or thereabouts, so it's not outlandish price-wise to see a double-pack for $50 and a triple [or quadruple]-pack with fancy-pants booklet for $110.
None of us know exactly what's going to be included, so I don't think we can judge it as being overpriced just yet.
How's this for an unintentionally hilarious Message Pit moment:
PJ is not on Sony anymore so it's not all that likely that either party is interested in anything more than a repackaging with bonuses that Sony does very very often with their former and deceased artists.
PJ has never been on Sony. Ever. Each album the band has released has been owned by Sony or partnered with Sony. Epic/ J Records/ BMG. They have never been on the Sony label.
