Is there any way to tell the difference between a picture of sunrise and and a picture of sunset?

there is no difference because if the sun rising somewhere, it is also setting somewhere else.

There is often more dust in the air at sunset than sunrise so the colours can appear more brightly.

half the world can be captured in a sunrise photo. the other half will be captured in the sunset. but in all likeliness most of the world will be black and silhouetted by the sun.
