Has anyone ever had one of these. It's weird, this band has been with me for many years. Inspired me to pick up the guitar and write songs and generally just mean a lot to me but I can't bring myself to listen to anything in particular right now... i'm just not excited...

Are we growing apart? :)

its probably because their last album was uninspiring

occasionally this happens to me. it usually happens this way.. ill listen to a TON of pj for a drawn out period of time, then there will be a lull when i dont listen to them at all. then one day, i pop in a bootleg or an album, and im just not in the mood for them. so another bit of time goes by, and after a few weeks/months its like BAM! and theyre back. i usually get into some cool new stuff during the downtime.

Meh, I wouldn't worry about. Go listen to something else, you'll feel like listening to PJ again after a while if it's still something that interests you.

That's happened with loads of other bands, i just didn't expect it with Pearl Jam. I mean i drove almost 3000km in the past 5 days and that usually would have been soundtracked by PJ - but i found myself skipping through most of it... oh well, at least i had variety :)

A Pearl Jam crisis is when you squirt pearl jam all over your monitor/keyboard

That happens to me with all sorts of artists I love. With food I love. With authors I love. With beers I love. It's really nothing to worry about. I think that it must happen to everyone. That doesn't mean that you don't still have affection for Pearl Jam.

I love them. They are my favorite rock band, but I'm getting to know other artists at the same time. And if I really want to get to know them better, I need to spend my time listening to them.

I love pearl jam more than any other author/band/movie/any kind of entertainment I can think of and there are times I'll go weeks without listneing and months without really caring. You either need some new material or just a break :)

The thing I am regretting now is that wasted time I spent listening to 100s of bootlegs. It were the same songs over and over again goddammit. I could have listened to so many other music. I'm lacking time now to listen to all I want. And back then (only couple of years ago really), in my student days, I had plenty of time and 'wasted' it on one band.

Up until last week I went years without listening to any of the Seatle bands from the early 90's. I couldn't listen to the Pumpkins, or STP, or Janes Addiction any of that early 90's stuff either. Then the other day I listened to AliceInChains Facelift and it blew my mind just like it did back in '89....it'll come back to you...just don't rush it...

It's normal. One of my friends skipped Pearl Jam for years. Then she went to the two concerts that were near, and it was all back again. She ended up going to multiple concerts again and liking the new albums.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

I'll go a week or so without listening, then I'll listen to a show I was at and that will get me back into shape.

Even if it's not coming back that's nothing bad. I think your taste in music is evolving and that's always a good thing. You still have the memories and influences, you've had a good and inspired time with music you loved or maybe one day will love and listen to again, so that's what remains, which is in my eyes important. Embrace everything that was and is good about it but don't force or get stuck on anything. :peace:

Its a normal occurrence... I'm going through it right now. I'm just listening to a ton of new music I don't have time for PJ.

Iv had that for a few months now, every once in a while ill pop in a PJ cd and really enjoy it, but otherwise im just into other things right now. they need a new cd, it will surely re-spark interest in them. EV's solo just wasnt exciting enough.
