Just wondering. I heard it on TSN here tonight (owned by ESPN), and wondered who else may have picked it up seeing as how American media outlets could probably afford the royalties better than the CBC.
If yes, I have to wonder what someone from down south would think when hearing it for the first time, especially if they had doubts about hockey in the first place.

I hadn't heard the song until this year(watched hockey now for 13 years). It's an awesome song.

There are things I can control...
It's an awesome song, up there with NBA on NBC or the MNF theme song.

A Californian loves the song? Awesome.
Looks like CTVGlobeMedia owns the song. Forgive me for not knowing my media conglomerates - but could the theme still be heard before games on ESPN? This is the first season where it's heard on stations other than the CBC.

No, they had a different theme.
I love pretty much all things hockey though.
Can you guys get Hockey Night In Canada on satellite? If you love hockey and haven't watched it on HNIC, you're in for a treat ... kinda like how when we Canadians watch MLB on an American station. Superior coverage.

I don't have a satellite, but between the Canadians, the Americans here and the Canadian coaches I had as I kid, they all said the same thing. HNiC is GOD.

Losing that theme is one of the dumbest things the CBC has ever done. For you Americans, imagine ditching the Star Spangled Banner because you were tired of paying the nominal copyright fee for it.

yeah, the CBC is pretty much fucked in the head, though. If they had their way, HNIC would now have lost the iconic theme song AND Don Cherry.

TSN is 80 percent owned by CTVGlobeMedia (CTV television stations, MTV, Muchmusic, RDS, Discovery, and a 15% percent share in MLSE) and 20% by ESPN. AS CTVGlobeMedia owns the theme it'll probably be TSN only.
