This one started while I was listening to "Simple Twist of Fate" and coming up with my own lyrics to the melody. Still a work in progress.

SOUTHERN BELLE

When the Minnesota boy met the southern belle
At the ice cream shoppe, her small-town spell
Wiped away any trace of his love sick hell.
Her Las Vegas neon smile
Lit up the boulevard for miles.
Like Cleopatra bathing in the Nile,
Her timeless beauty gushed from his wishing well.

With her Georgia peach eyes, she ignited a spark
That engulfed his unrequited heart,
And through the bones in his body the fire embarked.
Her hair of golden grain
Was enough to kindle the flame.
It burnt all the crops of shame
That were planted when a dust cloud turned his passion dark.

On a plantation, they danced in the rain.
She washed away the cynical pain
That flowed through his white flag veins.
He had an angel to call his own
Who melted his dreams of stone.
He placed her on top of a throne
That towered over peasant lovers who poisoned his brain.

She feared that once he flew back North
Her life would veer off a different course.
In a medieval castle from Camelot’s court
Surrounded by a sparkling mote
Was the dream marriage she always hoped.
Then she chuckled when he joked
That marriage is between two people who will soon get divorced.

In the middle of this mammoth field,
He laid down his broken-heart shield
And his brain allowed his heart to yield.
He found a piece of string
And made her a promise ring.
He said “I’ll always be your king
And our bond will forever be sealed.”

His key to heaven was at stake
The night the pussycat danced with the snake.
His spine shivered, his heart began to quake
‘Till it shot off the Richter scale.
His skin turned a clammy shade of pale.
Then his angel began to wail
Vibrations that would make any man ache.

He woke up, tore off his sweat-soaked sheets.
His eyes were pierced by a sunrise’s beam.
Then like an explosion of a ruptured spleen,
The sorrow of his loss
Swallowed him like a rolling stone’s moss.
Then he prayed the sign of a cross
And hoped that this figment would pierce his brain again.

Your stuff is so easy to turn into songs....the words just flow...the fact that everything rhymes helps too...
