THE LATEST FROM TEN CLUB - Oct 17 2008
------------------------------------------------
Transmissions From The Pearl Jam 10C Digital Lounge:
- Jeff Ament's "Tone" Available For Download - Eddie Vedder Writes Foreword For New Pete Townshend Bio - Tom Morello, Mike McCready Join Together For Get Out The Vote Rally and Concert - Stone Gossard's "Beyond Measure" Available Now - The 10C Digital Lounge Scene Report
------------------------------------------------
JEFF AMENT'S "TONE" AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
Thanks to the fans who purchased Jeff's debut CD, "Tone." It was a big success thanks to you! Since more people want to hear it, Jeff wanted to make it available for download at a special price of $4.99 directly from pearljam.com.
Tone features ten original tracks by Jeff culled from more than fifty-plus works in progress. Penned over the last eight years, the final collection offers a look into Ament's world of early life in Montana and how it has shaped his music. Much like Jeff's own life story, TONE tells the tale of a group of characters from a small town in Montana and their slow integration into life in the big city. The album emerged from his desire to take care of unfinished business; taking the original works and paring them down to a batch of like-minded and introspective songs.
Featuring a little help from drummer Richard Stuverud (The Fastbacks, War Babies, Three Fish) and King's X frontman Dug Pinnick, TONE is raw and touches on many musical influences; a searing collection of tracks that trace back to Jeff's early music roots. In his own words TONE is Jeff unchecked, left to his own devices, playing instruments he is not comfortable with, singing, pushing and painting himself into corners.
TONE Track Listing:
1. Just Like That 2. Give Me A Reason 3. Bulldozer 4. Relapse 5. Say Goodbye 6. The Forest 7. life Of a Salesman 8. Doubting Thomasina 9. Hi-Line 10. The Only Cloud In The Sky
EDDIE VEDDER WRITES FOREWORD FOR NEW PETE TOWNSHEND BIOGRAPHY
Eddie Vedder has written the foreword to "Who Are You: The Life of Pete Townshend", an exhaustive, critically acclaimed study of the life and career of the legendary guitarist and composer. Author Mark Wilkerson spent ten years researching and writing the 642-page book, and conducted exclusive interviews with Pete Townshend and several others, including Townshend's friends, family, and other associates. Wilkerson's book explores Townshend's West London roots, reminds us of the excitement he generated with The Who in those early days and brings his story right up to date with many fascinating stops along the way. The book, published by Omnibus Press, includes dozens of photographs and was edited by noted Who scholar and author Andy Neill.
TOM MORELLO, MIKE MCCREADY AND STONE GOSSARD JOIN TOGETHER FOR A GET OUT THE VOTE RALLY AND CONCERT
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/The Nightwatchman, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Stone Gossard Plus Special Guests Join Together for a Get Out the Vote Rally and Concert at Seattle's Showbox at The Market on November 3, 2008
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/The Nightwatchman, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and his band Shadow '86, Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard with the Hank Khoir, Boots Riley of the Coup and special guests are set to perform Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Showbox at The Market. In an effort to encourage voter participation, this group of notable artists is joining forces for an Election Day-eve get out the vote rally and musical celebration. With the help of local and national voter education organizations, concertgoers will be encouraged to not only get to the polls the following day, but to spread the word to their social networks on the importance of voting. (Details on specific organizations and concert partners to be announced in the coming weeks.)
"Fellow Shadow '86 bandmate, Chris Friel, approached me with the idea of putting together a small get out the vote show," said Mike McCready. "When we learned Tom Morello was planning to be in town and had a similar vision, the idea just grew from there."
No stranger to the world of politics, Morello comes to Seattle on the heels of last Spring's Justice Tour where Morello and a host of other activist/artists took to the road to raise awareness on such issues as homelessness, social justice, living wages, veterans' rights and the importance of getting involved in the political process. Morelloâs notable appearance at both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions followed up this effort, where he performed with his Rage Against the Machine bandmates.
"While we realize a large percentage of voters are planning to vote absentee this year, there are still countless individuals who plan to make their presence known at the polls," said McCready. "Our goal is to ensure that every person who wants to vote on November 4th is not only informed, but is motivated to encourage friends and family across the country to vote too."
Voter participation has long been a central theme of Pearl Jam's activism. Beginning with Pearl Jam's '92 'Drop in the Park' concert and continuing on through 2004's Vote for Change concert tour, Pearl Jam has remained an outspoken advocate on the importance of making your voice heard.

STONE GOSSARD'S "BEYOND MEASURE" AVAILABLE NOW
In case you missed it last week, Stone Gossard has released "Beyond Measure" at http://www.pearljam.com/stonegossard along with a new live video of his song "Haiti". These new tracks are available alongside previously released live and studio tracks of Stone Gossard's new songs, "Both Live", "Your Flames" and "Little One."
For those who haven't heard, a new space has been created at the Ten Club Headquarters called the 10C Digital Lounge. All Pearl Jam & Ten Club digital content is now flowing through this space, powered up and thoroughly connected.
Here is what the 10C Digital Lounge has seen and heard these past couple weeks:
- The Digital Lounge is excited to get our hands on "Pearl Jam: Vote For Change? 2004," an amazing film captured by Coan Nichols and Rick Charnoski on the 2004 Vote For Change Tour that Pearl Jam was a part of. We posted a trailer for the film to Pearl Jam's YouTube Channel and we'll have the details on when to see it in it's entirety very soon.
- Matt Cameron was in this week rehearsing with Harrybu McCage for their gig tonight at High Dive here in Seattle. Once again we could hear the music through the walls of the Digital Lounge and if the rehearsals were any indicator, tonight's show will be a blast!
- You'll like this info - we got to feast our eyes on the NEW issue of DEEP this week! Yes, it's true, a new DEEP magazine is just moments away from hitting the snail mail circuit. It's at the printers as we type.

The acclaimed Phil Donahue/Ellen Spiro documentary, Body of War is set for DVD release on October 28th. Body of War tells the heart-wrenching tale of our friend and hero Tomas Young who was paralyzed from the chest down after serving in Iraq for just one week. Tomas is forced to deal with the realities of war each and every day. For Tomas, learning to cope with his disability meant finding his voice to speak out against the war in Iraq.
The Body of War DVD features special bonus content including the video created for Eddie Vedder's original song, "No More," which was penned for the film. 25% of the sale of each DVD sold through pearljam.comwill benefit Tomas and his medical care directly. Pre-order here today.
SYNOPSIS Directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, the multi award-winning Body of War splits its time between Tomas's arduous daily reality in Kansas City, MO, and the legislative processes that led up to the invasion of Iraq in 2002. Senatorial speeches and a running tally of pro-war votes are interspliced with intimate footage of Tomas as he navigates through the acute physical and emotional impacts of his injury. A testament to the power of parallel images, the film adeptly juxtaposes the sanitized vantage point of Washington with raw personal experience. In the end, this contrast forces viewers to question the motives, methods, and ever-rising cost of the conflict in Iraq.
A deeply moving and bracingly honest film, Body of War narrates a story that must be heard—a story of courage, conviction, and resistance.
"A heart-wrenching and yet deeply affirming story" - The New York Times
"Unforgettably intimate … Un-missable" - The Toronto Star
"Architecturally sound, emotionally ravaging... a ferocious film" - Washington Post
"Beautiful, heartbreaking and powerful ... has to be seen." - Kansas City Star
"Young represents an uncommon figure: a man thrust into the spotlight against his will, and adapting to serve something bigger than himself." - Los Angeles Times
WINNER Best Documentary National Board of Review: NOMINEE Toronto International Film Festival: People's Choice Award
DVD FEATURES:
- Eddie Vedder Music Video "No More" - MSNBC interview - CSPAN coverage of the House and Senate debates - Theatrical Trailer - Deleted Scenes - Filmmaker Biographies
that pre-order page is useless for non-US as it doesn't tell you anything about shipping.

THE 10C DIGITAL LOUNGE SCENE REPORT For those who haven't heard, a new space has been created at the Ten Club Headquarters called the 10C Digital Lounge. All Pearl Jam & Ten Club digital content is now flowing through this space, powered up and thoroughly connected.
Here is what the 10C Digital Lounge has seen and heard these past couple weeks: - There has been some more activity in the Pearl Jam warehouse rehearsal space. Equipment is being pulled off the shelves and dusted off. Rows of amps have been seen as well as guitars being tuned up. No doubt something is brewing. - We've been getting great feedback on the new DEEP Magazine as members have been getting it in the mail over the past 2 weeks. If you haven't gotten your issue yet we're sure it will arrive shortly. It's being sent by the US Postal Service so it could take anywhere from 1-6 weeks. We want to thank all the members for their patience in getting this latest issue out. As for the future, we're back on track and have already got several pages of the next issue laid out. We'll be sure to keep you updated on it's progress. - Rumors have been swirling about a possible re-release of Pearl Jam's TEN album. As with everything this band does, any announcements regarding future releases will come when they are ready and not a moment sooner. Sit tight, you can count on Ten Club to have all the details if and when anything comes our way.
More soon...

they haven't been looking on here obviously!
and a god ugly shirt and throwing in a poster for an overpriced book (ok, the book itself isn't overpriced but the postage for it if you live outside the US is the reason I still haven't got it, print won't change that!)
