Oh, ya just gotta love those ever wise Hollywood suits when they decide to start doing something actual thinking. IRON MAN was a mega-hit, bigger than probably anyone anticipated, most critics dug it as well as the fans, it's already been widely regarded as arguably one of the top 3 superhero movies ever made, so what's the next logical step? Well DUH, replace Jon Favreau as the director, of course!
Substantial rumors flying around that the head of Marvel Studios is being extremely stingy on Fav's deal for the sequel, and he's far from secured to be back to helm it. These fucking Hollywood morons, they can't even be smart enough to simply get out of their own way. I'm guessing that Downey is already signed for the sequel, that happened awhile ago, but if Favs really is removed from this, I wouldn't be surprised if Downey would do everything in his power to walk off it, and I would support him 100%.

Supposedly both Fav and Downey have come out and said the date they want is unrealistic with no script or anything at this stage. Marvel Studios was having all this praise heaped on them for doing it the right way, let's hope they come to their senses.

Yea I just caught that on AICN yesterday. I know the dude's picked up some major cache over the last 2+ years or so, but c'mon, you're a supporting role. I'd love to know how much higher of a price Howard was asking.
But hey if you're gonna be replaced by someone, can't really get any better than Cheadle. Maybe blessing in disguise.

i bet howard didn't ask for much... shit, favreau almost left because he was asking for a standard sequel price and marvel thinks they shouldn't have to pay their talent more than what they originally hired them.

Tony Stark appears and proposes the idea of putting together a team.
Well at this point guys I don't really think we need a spoiler tag in any case, and yes I can confirm that post-credits scene was definitely covered in the first Iron Man thread. And though I've still yet to see Incredible Hulk, I'd heard that RDJ had a cameo as Stark.
From what I've heard, there is talk of, much like with the DC property of "Justice League", eventually making a "S.H.I.E.L.D." feature bringing all of these characters together, it's partly why they already bothered to officially associate Sam Jackson with the character of Nick Fury just even in that small way.
When it was reported last week that Don Cheadle would replace Terence Howard in the upcoming "Iron Man" sequel, it took many by surprise - including Howard himself.
Talking with NPR, Howard said "It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. Just...up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something."
He goes on further to hint that the decision had nothing to do with him - "Apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on, sometimes. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up. Even friendships, people you support."
I'd like to see Downey and Favreau say F this and hold out for Howard. Cheadle is not a good choice for this.

Also Sam Jackson has cofirmed that Favs told him Nick Fury will have a far more substantial role in the sequel.
So I just watched it for the second time the other day with the DVD hitting... this "War Machine" that Howard's character turns into, well the little bit towards the end where Howard is down in the 'lab' right after Tony leaves, he looks over the other suit and says to himself "Next time..." was that supposed to be the War Machine suit? Or was it possibly some backup suit that Tony just happened to have sitting around, and they merely wanted to convey that Howard really wanted to be out there helping Tony.
