I don't know how hispanic people are on this board, but hopefully there are enough to know about this fuckin amazing band from mexico. They have been around for 14 years and continue to bust out jams today. You could even say that they are the Spanish version of Pearl Jam. I'm not saying that they're both the same type of rock music, because it's not. Cafe Tacvba's sound has a more deep mexican personality and yet it is very universal. Their best album in my opinion would be 'YoSoy/Reves.' It came later in their career and was more mellow and experimental such as PJ's 'No Code.' and includes bad ass songs like "Arboles Frutales","El Rio/El Polen" and "Lento."

Cafe Tacuba is a great band, alot of experimentation, creativity and talent, and the lead singer Elfego Buendia has a unique brilliant voice.
Dime alguna buena banda Peruana que se acerque a Cafe Tacuba....
Tenias que ser Peruano.

Ok first of all the lead singer now calls himself Syzu Yantra.

I think that their best job was "Re", I love that record! Full of grat sounds and songs, then I didn't like that much. That covers album and Reves/Yo Soy wasn't as good, but they are very good and talented.

Their name looks pretty cool at least. What's the Mexican god of death called again? it's something ridiciously looking / sounding like texcxavxccupap or something.

Mictlantecuhtli is the aztec god of death

actually the name CAFE TACVBA (cafe tacuba, tacuba coffee) is allegedly derived from a very famous coffee shop downtown mexico city, specifically in the street of tacuba

http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/No ... -BR-1.html

i personally don't like them, but i admit they have some good stuff.

as to been the mexican version of pearl jam, that'd be radio kaos  (mexican people will understand this). they do have a legion of fans...170 000 people saw them at the zocalo a couple of years ago. that was sick, the biggest show it's been held there

this is the zocalo, picture 170 000 guys jumping to "la ingrata". i don't know how buildings didn't fall down.

170,000 people is a fucking shitload. There is no way they would have fit in that pictured area, even squashed and crammed in. They must have been packed in the streets in all directions for 100 yards. Crazy.

it's cuatro caminos (four roads), the name of a subway station near naucalpan, the place where they used to live

they're @ wikipedia, and it sould not be hard to find any of thir albums online. i'r recommend "re" or unplugged
