As a fiscal conservative and a realist, I've come to see the inevitable. Barack Obama is going to win this election, the swing state polls are too favorable at this point and unless McCain can win all of them, there's just no way he can win. Using Yahoo!'s election dashboard, it's clear that unless McCain can win Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Missouri, Indiana, Colorado and New Mexico that this election will be won by Obama-Biden.
Now, for those of us supporting the McCain camp, I want to know what changes you're going to make in your life to adjust to this radical new regime.
I spoke with a relative recently and he's talked about how he's in the process of obtaining his concealed weapons permit. I think this is a reasonable approach, with the economy destined to get worse, domestic terrorism on the rise, and an increased flow of illegal immigrants to the country it's only reasonable for Americans to take steps to protect themselves from this threat.
We could also pursue action with our State Attorney General against ACORN and the voter fraud that they've been proven of causing.
Another action to pursue is to push your state's supreme court to ensure affirmative action laws are not expanded into the workplace to advantage immigrants and others.
It's important to think ahead and understand how to approach these next 4 years (hopefully!), let's see what other options we have as Americans as far as dealing with this administration.

I would suggest to you that either man, as president, will be very limited in their ability to implement their aims, since their entire presidency will be devoted to the economy. Furthermore, there is already a lot of evidence that the worstening economy is having a big effect on the amount of illegals arriving, so...
Anyway, my dad keeps a lot of poli-articles, and I still laugh at all the 1992 opinion pieces about how Bill Clinton was going to create chaos, hand our streets over to violence, destroy the economy and turn us all socialist, and tear America assunder...and how people needed to arm themselves before he had a chance to take the guns away. There were a ton of them...with way more fervor and stronger arguments than the "Obama is a socialist" bit.

I'm really glad people have died to support your right to not give a shit. Thanks for not posting in this thread again!
I give a shit, I just choose not to support either of these candidates. None of the 3rd-party candidates appeal to me either. Guess that makes me a heartless bastard.

Don't you see that those soldiers died in order to take away your right to nonviolent protest, thod?

Roll your eyes if you want. Not participating in the election means that you don't care at all about your life. Everything from the way your water is treated to the way your schools are run to how the laws are enforced in your community is at stake. If you're not voting you can just sit back and shut the fuck up and be a victim all you want. Ohhh pooooor me no candidate fits exactly my ideals so I won't vote at all, you're a real fucking martyr.

I sounded very similar 8 years ago. I lived through a Bush presidency without having to dig a bunker. I'm sure the same will apply to McCain supporters. Eric will have plenty of policies to bitch about, but he'll probably find that he won't be forced to shoot any government officials attempting to move homeless families into his bonus room.

I'm with you, Eric. It's easy to get duped by pretty speeches but people need to look at where we're going here.
Let's also not forget that when the 160,000 troops come home (prematurely, I might add) over the next couple of years that will just add to the unemployment pool. We're digging a hole for ourselves that not even reagan could get us out of.
