I was talking to a fellow dork the other day about how easy video games have become. I don't play nearly as much as I once did, but I rarely even have to sit up on the couch anymore to get shit done.

I sweat for these:

1) I beat Mike Tyson by decision in Punch Out.
2) I finished TMNT for the NES (not the arcade version, the original)
3) I finished Double Dragon on the NES.
4) I finished Ninja Gaiden (NES again) without dying.
5) Even though I hated every second of the game (and the cover with Fabio) , I finished Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors 2 on the NES.

These are the reasons I hate seeing high school kids wearing "Know your roots t-shirts." They don't know shit.

1.) Beat Contra without dying.
2.) Got up to Shredder without losing a single life BAR in TMNT2
3.) Beat Abodox without dying.
4.) Beat Double Dragon 2 only losing a few life bars. That game was HARD. DD3 is harder though.

I can't believe you beat TMNT1. My grandma bought me that, and I played the hell out of it. I was at my video gaming peak when I was little and that was still hard as hell. I couldn't get past Wallstreet.

Yars Revenge and Pinball on the Atari 2600. You didn't really 'beat' Atari games but you could make your score roll over to 0.

The key is the third level. It was time consuming, but you could get 99 scrolls for each turtle. This still didn't guarantee victory, but it did make actually possible.

It's funny that you don't believe me. While in junior high, this chronic liar told all of us he beat it. He described this amazing ending. It was a complete fabrication. The ending blew.

Oh, and one more to add to the list. Did anyone else ever beat Battletoads? That game was ridiculously hard.

On the Genesis version, I got up to the level AFTER the space-surfing one. That game was mad difficult, even for a talented child's mind.

btw, are you from Mass? New Englanders are known for saying "ridiculously".

was this the one where you had to blow up shredder's tank thingamajig and then you had to kill shredder to end the game? (maybe i got the order backwards, but i think that's it) Where basically the only turtle worth using was donatello and maybe leonardo?

Technodrome. Yeah, there was a black background, and then you have to fight the damn thing! It had this C-claw that shot electrical bursts. I never actually got that far, but that's all I know.
The only turles worth using were Donatello or Leonardo. The reach was long and had more power (I think), even though they were a tad slower.

which TMNT had the level where you had to swim through some narrow ass corridors and would get electrecuted all while being chased by the foot clan?

yeah, that's the original. you had to shut down something like 8 bombs so they didn't blow up the dam. that was the hard part. you had to rush because of the time limit. you weren't chased underwater, but the seaweed was electric for some damn reason.

raphael sucked. you'd use him in all the early levels to do the dirty work. donatello ruled in every turtle game.

no, i'm not from new england. sometimes shit it just ridiculous. i'm from minnesota. insert hackneyed fargo joke here.

I'm terrible at RPGs and even I didn't find 4, 5, or 7 difficult.
