Anyone seen Ricky Gervais' HBO special over the weekend? I would have thought someone would have commented on it. It's not a stand up routine as much as it is him telling stories on stage. I DVR'd it but not watched yet. I've always enjoying seeing him on talk shows when he's doing a promotion circut.

I saw a review headline that said "More Yucks Than Yuks." I haven't seen it, but hope to catch a re-run.

I've never considered him to be a standup guy though, so hopefully it doesn't completely suck.

his observations aren't great, but his acting ability is incredible. for example, his conversation between hitler and neitsche (sp.?) was hilarious to watch. he's not a great joke teller, but he's a fucking genius.

I watched it last night; it was good but I was expecting it to be better. Some funny bits but it is all in his delivery.

I loved it. His and acting/miming is just great. A lot like Eddie Izzard in his delivery and methods, which is a good thing.

I just watched it tonight and loved pretty much every minute of it, including being downright in tears in some spots.

Though I'm a little bummed, the torrents I got off Demonoid, when searching for this I also saw one called "Fame", and it looked like it was an older one, but turns out it's a recording from the same tour. This show as taped in NY, that one in London. Granted the London one had some different material, but still about 80% the same between them.

And anyone ever see an encore in a standup comedy special before? I'm pretty sure that was a first for me.

The bit about the meeting and conversation between Hitler and Nietsche was especially knee-slap worthy.

I've seen a lot of his stuff and I am not feeling it yet.

Holy sweet jeezus did I laugh!
Few comics can pull off making fun of kids with cancer, the autistic and the obese within the first 10 minutes of a show.
Gervais did it brilliantly.

I doubt I can go, but let me know if you end up with extras just in case.
