We thought you would like to know that we have been making music. We have been in the studio with Mr Steve Albini recording live – to tape – analogue – no digital hiss – no Pro Tools – no safety nets. Quite scary, daunting but invigorating.
All the songs we are recording are lyrics left to us by Richey. Finally it feels like the right time to use them (especially after the last 18 months being so amazing with Send Away The Tigers). Musically, in many ways it feels like a follow up to the Holy Bible but there is also an acoustic side – tender, romantic, nihilism, “Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky” esque. It’s a record that celebrates the genius of his words, full of love, anger, intelligence and respect. We have to make this great. Wish us luck.
We hope to release the record next April or May. The working titles are “Journal for Plague Lovers” or “I Know I Believe In Nothing But It Is My Nothing”.

Well, as a fan who pretty much has no interest in the band's work post-Richey, this will either be the best thing they've done in years or a fuck-up of epic proportions.

Missing Guitarist Declared Dead Monday, Nov 24, 2008 10:47AM
Manic Street Preachers guitarist and songwriter Richey Edwards has been declared presumed dead 13 years after his disappearance.
The musician's car was found in February 1995 near the Severn Bridge linking England and Wales, according to Reuters.
Despite alleged Edwards sightings, it was widely believed his disappearance was a suicide.
David Ellis, the lawyer for the Edwards family, said the musician's parents requested a court order to change his legal status after "an acceptance that his affairs have got to be sorted," according to the Western Mail at Welsh news site http://www.walesonline.co.uk. "That's not the same as an acceptance that he is dead."
A missing person can be declared legally dead after seven years.
In early November the other members of the Manic Street Preachers announced on their Web site they were making a new record featuring lyrics left behind by Edwards.
"Finally it feels like the right time to use them." Edwards' estate is worth close to £380,000 deducting death duties, according to British media reports.

Manic Street Preachers complete new album
Nicky Wire says the band are 'excited, nervous, proud and fearful' about releasing it
Manic Street Preachers bassist Nicky Wire has posted a handwritten note on Manicstreetpreachers.com telling fans the band have completed recording their new album.
Wire said he thinks the LP - which is tentatively titled 'Journal For Plague Lovers' - will be released this May.
The record features lyrics written by Richey Edwards.
Wire's note said that the Welsh trio are now preparing to choose the tracklisting for the album, and get it mastered in New York.
"Just finished recording in Rockfield," Wire said in the note.
"Only running orders left to be finalised then cut the record in New York - looks like middle of May for release. We're excited, nervous, proud and fearful as usual but can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Wire then went on to thank fans for giving him a "monumental" 40th birthday card (on January 20). He also posted several photos of the band recording the album in the studio on the website.
