So given eddie's grammy I was wondering if people felt rise was his best vocal performance on Into the Wild.

I'm not sure which I'd pick but it certainly wouldn't be rise. I'd go wtih hard sun and society above it for certain.

I have to pick one?!

Fuck, it's close between Setting Forth, Rise Up and Hard Sun for me.

Yeah, it seemed weird that Rise got the nomination. Hard Sun, Society, and Guaranteed would've been better choices.

And Rise probably got picked because it was released as a single to radio this year.

Society, Guaranteed, Hard Sun. I think those are his 3 best. If I had to pick one, I guess I'd say Society, though Guaranteed is my favorite.

I picked GUARANTEED. There are a lot a nice performances on ITW, but there were three things about this song that stood out for me. First, it's one of the best pieces of poetry that he's ever written. That enhances any interpretation. Secondly, it has an extremely beautiful melody. Finally, the stresses he puts on certain syllables combined with the extraordinarily nuanced dynamics imbue the song with more meaning than the words contain.

I wonder if a song like guaranteed is too subtle for a nomination for something like this.

The Eddie voice I love is on Society. So that's definitely my favourite one. Don't know about best.

Also,
I've just seen Into the Wild for the first time. Bought the 2-disc edition. Good good.

Rise is the best song on ITW, but not the best vocal. Setting Forth is probably the #1 song I wish was longer out of anything Pearl Jam has done, even more so than extending the jam on Marker.

How come No Ceiling got no love? I think that song is the strongest of the bunch aside from the radio songs, Society and Hard Sun.
