I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, so I'm hoping somebody here will be nice enough to help. I just downloaded a torrent file of an Episode of "Lost" that I missed, and when I try to open it I get audio, but no video. I've noticed this problem in the past with other files, but now I really want to watch this episode so it has become important. :D

Info:
File name: lost.s01e16.hdtv.xvid-tcm
OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Player Version: 9 Series

The file automatically showed up with a Windows Media Player Icon after download, so I just opened it with that. Is there a different player I should be using for this file? Thanks in advance for any help offered!

i seem to be having the same problem playing DVD's on my computer - i got a dvd-rom drive recently & it came with some dvd player (software). I get audio on it but the video is only a black screen. however, i can take screencaps of the dvd and view the files as the jpg without a problem, so it would seem that the computer is capable of getting the information off the dvd.
same issue with wmp.

I'm not sure if this is a problem where i need a new codec to play dvd's or if my video card is just not capable of playing dvd's (though it would seem that if i can take screencaps from the dvd, the videocard can handle playing dvds, no?)

any ideas, anyone?

ps - i'm running win98
