I know a lot of you have said the Boots from the 2000 tour sound the best, and have to ask why you think so. The Euro leg, to my ears, have nothing of Jeff's bass in them, and the US dates are only slightly better. I truly puzzles me that so many of you think they are the best sounding when I can't even hear 1/2 of the rythym section. What am I missing?

While it's true that there's less low end to the Euro shows, I find no such problem with the US shows - I can hear Jeff just fine. I don't find it to be a huge problem with the Euro shows either, just grab that knob titled "bass" and crank him southward.
Matt's drums have never sounded this good again, they're so powerful on these shows. I wish he'd go back to using this kit again, he switched to Yamaha in 2003 and the difference is night and day.
Matt was using the Ayotte kits in 2000, right? I agree with his sound being awesome. I remember reading why he stopped using them on tour, but I don't remember what he said.

I agree that the Euro boots have far too little of Jeff's bass guitar. He is almost virtually not there. I don't know why they mixed them like that. Cranking up the Bass knob on a stereo does not do justice, because that cranks up the low end overall - it obviously does not add just more bass guitar volume. The American boots are a bit better than the Euros, but could still use a bit more of a boost.
Despite the low bass and sometimes low drums in the mix, 2000 is my favorite because I think it is when the band was the tightest that they have ever been. (As far as official bootlegs go)
Go listen to Tampa 2000. If you don't like THAT show, then I guess we are at odds.
It's not an issue of liking the show. There are quite a few ( I've still not heard all of the shows from this tour, but I'm workin' on it ) shows from this tour that I think are quite phenomenal. It's the mix on the boots I have a problem with. And these are two totally and completely different issues.
