i know the classics and i'm pretty well versed in pet sounds at the moment. the unreleased landlocked album has some good ones. what else do i really need to hear?

I don't mean to be an asshole, but if you have to ask about what to listen to from these guys then maybe you should just go the random route.
think about it this way, if you go the standard route on a band like the doors, you end up with the self titled album, but if you find someone who's a huge doors fan usually they can point you to great songs that people talk about less like shaman's blues or yes the river knows. i'm hoping there's someone on this board better versed in the more obscure beach boys songs that may be diamond's in the rough. so thanks for your two cents, but i'd perfer song or album suggestions. i mean i'm listening to their albums anyway. like one time buffalohed mentioned the beach boys song "wonderful" from smile, which i had, just not listened to, and i dug it. that's what this thread is for.

Pet Sounds is the only one that really did anything for me. Mostly due to that first track, really. Wild Honey is alright.
Wouldn't it be nice if all the other songs were even half that good, eh?

Tonight I downloaded Friends, 20/20, Wild Honey and i planned on downloading Smiley Smile but i can't for the life of me find it anywhere. I'm bummed because that's the only one I really wanted.
I also own Pet Sounds, Surf's Up, Today!, and '65 (the last three are exclusively on vinyl, so I may download Surf's Up and Today! for my ipod). Besides what I'm downloading, what other post-Pet Sounds is essential?

The remastered versions of Wild Honey and Smiley Smile are packaged together on the same disc. Are you sure when you downloaded Wild Honey that you didn't get Smiley Smile in the same file?

positive. I only have the eleven tracks on Wild Honey. I double checked.

How do we feel about Holland? I downloaded it a few months ago and I'm really digging it tonight for some reason. New sounds meet the old style on this one. California Saga is pretty great, but wtf is Mount Vernon and Fairway? Brian Wilson's unfortunate 70's experience takes on an entirely new level once you hear that one.
