I don’t know if I’m the only one but I listen to live performance with any PJ drummer except Matt and the songs have the almost same bpm (beats per minute).
Live recording with Dave A. are especially tight and accurate but Matt Cameron plays ALL songs way too fast all the time. I know they now play even flow faster because they want to but why does Matt have to play every song faster?

Im anoyed about almost all coming form pearl jam playing live at these days. There is no distorsion in the guitars, cameron is great but doesnt fit,and i cant stand ed singing(2005 was the last time i could listen to him)and forgetting all the lyrics. But covers are really good. The should become a cover band.

ok, he plays faster, but it doesn't mean he can't hold a beat
OK then I guess he can't accurately reproduce original bpm's from studio versions ... you know what I mean!
The only reason I brought this up is that everytime I listen to Matt's live performances, it annoyed the living hell out of me that a professional drummer can't play songs the way they where recorded!

again maybe it's just me.
He's ego is too big to not play the way he wants.

they seemed to slow down for the 2008 tour. Before that it seemed they were going way to fast yes, But maybe they acknowledged this during the summer, cause the two shows I went to a lot of the songs didn't sound as rushed as they have in the last 3 or 4 years

yeah either matt cameron can't hold a beat , or he's one of the top 5 drummers in history
He is a great drummer, but his style doesn't necessarily fit with the Pre-Binaural style. I submit his fills during evenflow as a representative sample. And after 10 years he is still completely unable to play In My Tree? That is criminal.
Danny Carey is my favorite.

Matt's a rock drummer, in a band that is mostly songwriterish the last 9 years or so. He's a lot like Cornell as a singer...fantastic, but not as much stylistic range.

I promise to ignore all lame-ass Dave vs. Matt/Jack threads in the future. And here' s my final take:
1.) Dave had one drum beat (the "Why Go" beat, which he didn't even write). 2.) PJ KICKED Dave out of the band. 3.) PJ didn't like Dave's drumming. 4.) Dave embarrassed Ed/PJ. 5.) Dave hasn't played in another decent musical project since getting kicked out of PJ. 6.) Dave looked like a fur ball. 7.) Dave was a douche. 8.) Matt C and Jack Irons can outwrite/play Dave, in terms of creativity, songwriting, etc. (Dave being creative = cymbal splash). 9.) Dave was only on two LPs, and his kick/snare pattern is almost the same on every song. And the big one, No. 10) No one in the BAND seems to have any issues with Dave A. getting the f'n ax. It's just loser fanboys on the Internet who couldn't write a song to save their lives or hold Matt's jock.

Kim Thayil would bitch that Matt played too fast live. Listen to the SG cover of Communication Breakdown...it's like listening to an Vinyl LP at 45 speed...I played with a drummer like that.....he was a great drummer but he got faster and faster as the night went on...
The link isn't working but go to page 5 in the Live section and you'll see this thread "Matt Cameron plays too goddamn fast live".
So... we meet again at last, and I see yoyr schwartz is as big as mine...
seriously though, I'll read the other thread later but I'd just like to mention that playing live is exciting and it's not always the drummer that speeds up first. Also, for accurate reproductions of the studio versions, try... THE STUDIO VERSIONS, or listen to live Rush.

He was by far the best one in my show (2nd São Paulo show in 2005). Mike and Stone were good, but not very sharp, Jeff was rock solid as always, but Matt that really kicked ass, specially during the Even Flow solo, I didnt even bother to look at Mike.
