perhaps. personally I just trash ten because its infalability deserves to be questioned. its not bad, but at this point is extremely dated, and the 'drama' of it is a bit overwhelming at times.

ten is a great record rock band/guitar hero is a shitty game.
Rock Band is not a shitty game for average Jane Doe and family. Has anyone noticed what's going on at the local Best Buy? People love this game. This is a good thing for music and a good thing for families.
It would be great if families would read aloud in their living rooms after dinner, or played family Scrabble. Or better yet, got some real instruments and formed their own version of the Partridge Family, but that isn't going to happen any time soon. And maybe, just maybe... this might lead to that. At the very least, Rock Band teaches listening skills.
In the over all scheme of things, Rock Band is a good thing.
Unless one holds the opinion that Dick and Jane should buy their kids their own Xbox 360s so they could all meet on-line for a family round of Call Of Duty 4
KILL KILL KILL KILL
PS. Guitar Hero - Band version - is a shitty game. Rock Band 2 on the other hand.........

Its drama is of its times. Fortunately, that's nothing close to as over the top as stuff from the mid 70s (Meatloaf anyone?), and I find the album's operatic qualities have held up well, all things considered. It will be "dated" until the old, is new again. Has anyone else noticed how Alternative sounds like the 60s?

bringing families together, huh? i'd like to know what families you've been observing. certainly there are exceptions to every rule, but by and large when these games are being played it isn't "family time". in fact, i don't think any video game period is being played by and large by families as a way to connect. sure it may bring brothers and sisters together i guess, but i just don't see mom and dad sitting down and rocking out with their kids. a majority of the people playing these games are either a) teenagers, who play them with their friends and possibly their siblings; b) college kids, who are getting drunk/stoned and having a good time.

just because you have no one to play games with doesn't make it non-family friendly. i know plenty of families who play these types of games together

I'm a hard core gamer (COD4, Halo 4, Gears 2) when I play my wife goes and plays pogo on the computer. I got guitar hero III, and we both play together all the time. She then tried project gothem racing, and now she plays several of the games that don't involve shooting people. so, yes GHIII brought us together in a nighly activity.
