I need some seriously funny movies.
Every list of funniest movies I've found doesn't cut it. If Fast Times at Ridgemount High or Mrs. Doubtfire are on it, it is not a worthwhile list (Fast Times being a much more dramatic than comedic movie).

Here's some funny movies you may or may not have seen yet:
And Now for Something Completely Different (or anything Monty Python) Shoot 'Em Up Being There Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story In Bruges Living in Oblivion Thank You for Smoking Idiocracy Mars Attacks! Bean Kind Hearts and Coronets and any of the Coen Bros. or Woody Allen comedies.

i like these two a lot, i'll throw in "24 party people"
for the woody allen, i'm a big fan of annie hall, which is obvious, but great.
windedsailor, I don't know if you've seen Living in Oblivion, but if you haven't you should definitely check it out. It stars Steve Buscemi as an increasingly frustrated indie film director on the set of his movie. This goes for everyone else, too. I'd recommend it. It's by Tom DiCillo, Jarmusch's original DP, and it's from 1995.

I'll check these out Argo, but I don't know if I can trust your sense of humor because In Bruges, although a great film, may not be too funny.
And to answer your question T:
Spinal Tap The Jerk 40-year old Virgin Caddyshack Something About Mary Princess Bride Lebowski Wallace and Gromit Young Frankenstein Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Kiss Kiss Bang Bang South Park Bottle Rocket Best in Show Birdcage Election Galaxy Quest Tropic Thunder Airplane! Superbad

OK.
I have to recommend "Vampire's Kiss" to anyone i think might appreciate it. it's not necessarily a comedy, but funny as hell. Best Nicholas Cage performance by far; blows Leaving Las Vegas away. should've been his Oscar role.
Moving on:
Office Space A Fish Called Wanda Groundhog Day Grandma's Boy Happy Gilmore
I love Ace Ventura:Pet Detective and Liar Liar too, though i understand they aren't for everybody...
i just saw Hancock with will smith and thought the first half was very funny- it disintegrated after that though

It's funny. These are all funny.
I don't movies are subjective at all. Either you have good taste or you don't.
Some more:
Spaceballs Spies Like Us Meet The Parents History Of The World Part 1. Blazzing Saddles Robin Hood Men in Tights (really) Fletch Trading Places Coming To America

start getting into woody allen. seriously. aside from a few stinkers and a serious movie or two, his entire catalog is absolutely hysterical... in that cool witty woody kind of way.
