if a band writes/wrote songs/albums that u love while being under the influence of heroin or cocaine (something more than weed) would it matter to you? do u think it matters how a song u love is made? do u give less credit to an artist if they wrote the tune while chasing dragons? do u think musicians see it differently opposed to the laymen who just wants good beats?

I wouldn't be any more annoyed if it happened on cocaine or a beer except at the risk they take. Iunno I think it's all kind of lame but I'm naturally high and have synesthesia so I kind of have an advantage in that sense in that there is no where for me to go from here.

why lame? some people are more creative on drugs. isnt the end result all that matters?
well, since drugs are responsible for so much awesome music, shouldn't we just presume drugs are capable of making us better human beings in some ways, and then use them more freely?

sometimes some drugs are square for a persons round hole. theres tons of musicians who lived and died that we never knew of that did drugs. i think drugs are like trapezoids. no definte shape and sometimes they happen to meet someone at the right time who is a perfect fit.
drugs alter sobriety and do open u up to new realities but i feel outside of pot, drugs are bad for most people. id be hesitant to tell everybody to go try them all.

there's alot of gray in between telling everybody "to try them all" and "never, ever use any drugs" yah?

but you know. i guess the main thing i want from musicians is good music so maybe i wouldnt care if they all took em. i really dont think ive ever been personally affected by a dead musician. im almost certain

i have never heard of a musician ODing on shrooms or LSD. true, for some people neither should be something that they try, but by and large, coke and heroin are the illegal drugs that kill people.

i already enjoy music that was created on drugs, to invalidate it now would clearly be me altering my perception and being judgemental.

im not 100% sure of which great tunes i liked were penned on drugs but i just wondered if non musicians really cared. i mean what if some guy/girl went on a 5 day binge and created another stairway to heaven/bohemian rhapsody/dashboard lights/november rain/summertime rolls and then died the second his last vocal was spilled. i dont think i'd care about his life or family. us soldiers die everyday and i never find myself physically affected. i think its a shame they die but what really is my attachment to 'strangers'? however if they wrote the same song sober that is equally valid.

slow down there
how about we alternate supplying any willing RM musician with items we feel makes a legendary song? they will probably already have weed so u start and offer heroin. if that doesnt work its my turn and i add a broken lava lamp that on the outside looks like it should work. if a fantastic gem does not arise from their futile attempts to understand/fix the lamp, then its your turn to add something to the mix. the winner will be whomever supplied the final ingredient. deal? i know where to get heroin right now. just so u know. any musicians here?

Actually the true masterpieces require a lot of thought which drugs get in the way. But people love to romanticize drugs as "mind expanding"
