yes, you can use the GH instrument with RB
if you want to play rock band dlc packs, you need to have the original game (rock band one or 2) to play those songs.

good call on making a new thread btw

GH:WT instruments only work with Rock Band 2.... you would need to get the original RB instruments to play on the 1st RB game.

what system are you going for? if it's 360 or ps3 you can buy rock band 2, then rent rock band 1 and copy all the songs over for them to work in RB2

it seems like the companies would make their shit completely worthless for the rival games. im surprised that anything RB works with anything GH.

well, they're smart enough to know that people who may have bought the rock band one set would not buy a full guitar hero set (or vice versa). If they make instruments compatible, they can at least sell the software to people who already have at least some form of instrument.

Annoying as hell that there's no network/download play for PS2, so I'm considering buying a Wii (because it's way cheaper than PS3 and I have no interest in Xbox 360 after they screwed me by abandoning the regular xbox so fast) to get GH World Tour...but the coming PJ download on Rock Band is of course a must have..nice to hear that I'd be able to play it if I buy the GH instruments.

It's the best of both worlds.

If it was up to the Activision, that's how it would be. The RB guitar didn't work with GHIII. I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that Microsoft and Sony "strongly suggested" that everyone make their instruments compatible with all games.

Let it be said right here, right now (even though most of you probably already knew this).

Rock Band 2 shits all over GH: WT

I don't know. I can think of some pros and cons for both. In terms of downloadable content RB does indeed destroy GH.

There should be an "Export" option on the RB1 menu. Look for that and it'll walk you through it.

yeah, RB1 will autoupdate if you're on Live, if you haven't done it already and there's an option in the menus somewhere

OK...so I got GH:WT 2 guitar set. I will buy RB2, rent RB1, and wait for the Pearl Jam TEN DLC for RB. Life is good.
