do you ever get overwhelmed by all the horrors in the world? i am just feeling right now that nothing makes any sense and everything seems so random. Wrong place at the wrong time? you can get your head blown off. got sick on 9/11/01 and couldn't go to your job at the trade center? saved!

it's all so complex and seemingly out of our control. i can understand how easy it is to become addicted to drugs, alcohol, etc. to escape the vulnerability we all face and the chaos and helplessness

I am nothing but a tiny speck on a tiny rock in a tiny system in a tiny galaxy in a gigantic universe. I am nothing so I am free.

I figure this, I don't have it nearly as bad as these guys:

Talk about being on display in an overwhelming way. Yikes.

how do you define nothing? if you define our 6x2 carbon-based vessels against the vast unending nature of the universe i'd say that's kind of defeatist in nature, dont ya think?

i think freedom comes from smaller, more realistic comparisons.

I'm just saying in the grand scheme of things, I really don't matter, except to the people I let into my small insignificant world. And I'm not saying this to completely right off any social responsibility, because I do believe we all have some responsibility to try and leave this place a little better than we found it. But I'm not going to let the bombings in the middle east keep me up at night. I'm going to live my life, do what I can to help out, and just focus my energy on being happy. Yeah, when you think about all the shit in the world that is overwhelming it can get you down, so instead I think about the small things in my life that get me up. And then one day I'll die and almost everything and everyone in the world will remain unaffected by me. So I'll just worry about me and my world while I'm here, and I find this philosophy incredibly liberating.

In a sense, Theresa, we're all trivial.

does this philosophy require a steady diet of marijuana to maintain?

Oh Theresa, you're an important good hearted person who really should not allow the weight of the world to bring you down to such a level. When the going gets tough, the tough get goin my grandpappy used to say. Dont sweat the small stuff. When the good people do nothing... Dont let the world get to you like this!!! Please be stronger and thank the lord, or your lord, or whatever you believe for each beautiful day you have on this planet!! Be Thankful for important family, and important friends!!! Dont harp on the bad things that were just missed, as their are just as many good!! Love What you have, not Love what you dont- and dont hate what you missed. Live each day like its your last!! Dance Like no one is watching, and most importantly, go fuck yourself, you drama queen!
