That guy was a real voice. I still listen on a regular basis to Thin Lizzy, whatever the period. Any other fans down here ?

I think I made a thread on TL a while back. It got around 6 replies, and half of them were from King.

Well, that makes 3 of us interested in Lizzy. I've listened to a lot of Lizzy's stuff recently. What I prefer is the Johnny the fox-Bad reputation- Black rose trilogy which is their peak in my opinion. But I have a special place for Life Live which is the first Lizzy I listened to.

I love the production on Bad Reputation. And that album has Phil's best bass work, too.

And there's nice guitars on it too : Opium Trail is my favorite from this album and my favorite Lizzy song

Ahhh, Lizzy. Fantastic music. Hilarious album covers.

Awesome.

I just bought Dedication: The Very Best of Thin Lizzy from iTunes, and I plan on checking it out shortly. The only songs I know by them thus far are "Jailbreak", "Boys are Back in Town" and "Whiskey in the Jar".

A good approach can be to listen to "Live and Dangerous", their live album from 1978. Although it has been claimed to have been overdubbed in studio, it still is a great album and worth a listen to get you in the distinguishable lizzy sound : twin guitars and the soul voice of Lynott.

The Lizzy were great. I was at the launch night of the Phillo statue in Dublin (I think it was that) and met Phil's ma at it. So many good tracks. 'Sarah' is probably my favourite, though. I saw them a few years ago (maybe 2003 or 2004?) in Dublin with Sykes on vocals. I only went 'cause I had a guestlist. Good FUN night out, but a pointless from a musical standpoint...

In the '80s, a friend of mine endured himself all the german and french shows of the Gary Moore tours in the hope to see a guest appearance by Phil Lynott. He didn't see Phil but he got a hate on Gary Moore that still lasts...
