Clinton: Hillary Would Be Great President
TOKYO (AP) -- Former President Clinton said Sunday that his wife, Hillary, would be an excellent choice as the first female leader of the world's most powerful nation.
In an interview with Japan's TV Asahi, Clinton said he did not know whether his wife, the senator of New York state, has any plans to one day run for the presidency.
"I don't know if she'll run or not," he told the network, but added, "She would make an excellent president, and I would always try to help her."
Hillary Rodham Clinton has said she plans to run for re-election as New York senator in 2006. Speculation has periodically surfaced, however, that the 57-year-old former first lady may have her sights set for the presidency in 2008.
Results from a U.S. poll released last week showed that six in 10 American voters believe the United States is ready for a female president.
Fifty-three percent thought Hillary Clinton should try for the job, according to the survey by the Siena College Research Institute and sponsored by Hearst Newspapers.
"If she did run and she was able to win, she'd make a very, very good president," Clinton said Sunday. "I think now she's at least as good as I was."
Clinton was in Japan on a three-day visit to attend an international forum organized by the Asahi newspaper and to promote a Japanese-language edition of his best-selling memoir "My Life."

Well, the Democratic party has been completely marginalized anyhow. Choosing Hill as their nominee would be the final nail in the coffin.
I don't know. Sometimes she's an easy target, but I think you're underestimating the sympathetic vote for her being a cuckolded wife. I think a lot of women will want to see her outperform Bill. Even if they don't say so publicly. I think they'll vote that way in the booth.

I don't think she was qualified to be a Senator, let alone President. As much as I miss Bill Clinton and voted for him twice, I don't think I would ever vote for Hillary. Sorry.

c-
I have my doubts about the qualifications of 80% of Senators. And if qualifications were required to be President, we wouldn't be in our current hell.

I'd never vote for someone out of pity. If she did run for President, I'd vote for her on her qualifications & the strength of her character. Not because she "stood by her man" or because I felt sorry for her.
oh, and I voted for Bill twice. Flaws aside, I liked him as president.

I would not vote for Hillary, and it's not because I don't think she could do a fine job as president. I will work hard to make sure she is not the Democratic nominee because the Republicans would have to really fuck things up to find a candidate who could lose to Hillary Clinton. For every person who loves Hillary, there are two who hate her, and they're not all Republicans either. She is just too easy a target for the GOP election machine to take potshots at.
If she wins the nomination, it will be the last straw for me with the dems for a while, and I will make a protest vote and possibly even join another party.

That's how I feel, but there aren't enough of us for her to win. However, there are a lot of women in this country that WOULD vote for her out of pity. Therein lies her victory. IMHO.

...does not exist. A cuckold by definition refers to a man.
[Middle English cokewald, from Anglo-Norman *cucuald, from cucu, the cuckoo, from Vulgar Latin *cucclus, from Latin cuclus.]
Word History: The allusion to the cuckoo on which the word cuckold is based may not be appreciated by those unfamiliar with the nesting habits of certain varieties of this bird. The female of some Old World cuckoos lays its eggs in the nests of other birds, leaving them to be cared for by the resident nesters. This parasitic tendency has given the female bird a figurative reputation for unfaithfulness as well. Hence in Old French we find the word cucuault, composed of cocu, “cuckoo, cuckold,” and the pejorative suffix -ald and used to designate a husband whose wife has wandered afield like the female cuckoo. An earlier assumed form of the Old French word was borrowed into Middle English by way of Anglo-Norman. Middle English cokewold, the ancestor of Modern English cuckold, is first recorded in a work written around 1250.
