Anyone else notice http://www.pearljam.com/forum is no longer online? Maybe they've given up, or hopefully tweaking it to make it a lot faster...

pearljam.com/forum is a new official bbs, which was launched recently during the rehaul of pearljam.com. Most of us speculate that it will become the only official pearl jam bbs. The practical difference to some of us is that some of us are banned on the forums.pearljam.com site but not banned on pearljam.com/forum site.

Most people have not liked the slow speed in which the new bbs has been working. I'm guessing that they took it offline to fix this, but who knows now.

For some reason, ever since the launch of pearljam.com/forum there was no button bringing you to the forum, you needed to type it in directly to get to it. I definitely think it was in beta, as they work out the kinks, before a more official launch. They had also imported all sticky's and subject over to the new site from the old pit, which made it more confusing, but briefly in sync with the old pit.

people on the Pit seem to say that the old pit is shutting down (that I don't care) AND the new one is member only?!

that is a really sucky idea in itself and will also mean trolls that are not member are most likely going to come here to troll.

This is no place to troll around for long. Members here are worst than any troll out there and i mean it in a good way.

Don't care either way, as long as getting 10c tix around sales time isn't as painful as it was before.

I'm wondering whether simply registering at the site without actually buying a membership will let you in...

Nope.

"Once you have bought and paid for a 10C MEMBERSHIP, you will get full access to pearljam.com (processing could take up to an hour from time of purchase). Log on and enjoy the Ten Club Community Forums or add additional information to your Member Profile. There is much more to come in 2009!"

I've never had an account at Synergy so I couldn't care less, but that's really shitty of the 10C and more evidence of the band (or more likely management) trying to suck every last dollar out of it's fans.

Although 10C usually aren't known for being clear in their communication, so maybe this just means there is like a 10C Member Only subforum on the new Synergy that's accessible only to 10C members.

from a band with the principles they've espoused over the years, this just seems like a bit of bullshit.
i can understand a fan club only board alongside an open board; i have absolutely no problem with that... but getting rid of the non-10c members forum...

then again, it doesn't affect me too much since i can't remember the last time i went there and spent time there(and this board is far more enjoyable since it's not so goddamn cluttered and i enjoy the population more)...

it is a shitty move if true (I don't even see the point of a member-only section..as if any info would stay 'secret'...anyway we get the infos from somewhere before they ever tell us  )

but as I said, it also very likely means THIS forum is going to get cluttered by the people left off by synergy.
Here is the first place the banned people came to after all.

sure we can out-troll them.. but do we really want more LWs here?

This forum, at any rate, has close to a zero-tolerence troll policy, so I wouldn't worry too much. :)

no, i meant a member's only forum for maybe a less cluttered environment.
