I bought a jump rope today for like 7 bucks and I CAN ADJUST THE WEIGHT OF THE HANDLES! According to online resources...this is the only piece of cardio exercise equipment i need to lose weight.
here are some cool facts about jumping rope:
Quote:
1.) Cost. Unlike a treadmill, elliptical, or other high-tech cardio machine, jump ropes sell for about $15, and a good one should last for years — if not decades.
2.) Portability. You can take it anywhere and use it indoors or out.
3.) Strength gain. Jumping builds bone-mineral density and improves total-body power. Athletes have used it to improve their vertical jump height.
4.) Improved coordination. The jump rope forces you to keep a rhythmic pace and use proper form, otherwise you trip.
5.) Fat loss. Jumping rope involves nearly every muscle. Some people report that it's the only cardio they need to lose fat.

i am really bad at jumping rope. like, fuckin atrocious. especially considering that while not being espeially coordinated, i had become pretty agile by the end of high school(along with fast/strong, but those weren't as tough to develop). but then that whole fracture on my spine thing sorta put me back a few places in terms of all of the above(well maybe not strength).

Bullshit to that point. Unless all you are doing is serving double faults or aces.

i know 10 minutes sounds like a short time but its not as easy as it sounds. i couldnt even make it up to 5 last night without my hamstrings burning like fire.
id rather play two sets of tennis because itll be in a longer time span and youre not doing a repetitive movement the whole time.
