I've been into this show since it first started. It's the anti-CSI. A&E has a lot of cheesy shows that edit otherwise-boring stuff into reality shows, but The First 48 is a gem. It's gritty, and I think it's more interesting than any scripted primetime cop drama.

Just tonight, I watched two homely male detectives in Minneapolis spend 30 hours at a desk, trying to solve a murder involving a homeless victim and homeless witnesses. That is FAR more interesting than watching Lieutenant Dan lead a team of super-attractive young super scientists who drive around in Hummers and solve the murders of super-attractive victims using Star Trek equipment.

I love this show but the gf is disturbed by the actual bodies. And she doesn't like that they show the families being notified, which is a valid point I think. But yeah, great show and extremely addictive.

It's a little ghoulish that they get the families on there, you're right. But I've seen more episodes where the camera crew stays outside than otherwise. Most stuff surrounding the crimes is really dirty, unglamorous and sometimes hard to watch ... but again, that's what makes it better than CSI.

I love this show. I'm a little pissed though because I was thinking about how great it was going to be to watch a new episode tonight only to remember they moved it to Thursday nights. The only non-network show I like better is Gangland.

gangland kicks ass, i watched a thing about the LA crips the other day.

A&E has the best shows on by far

For sure... Jacked and Parking Wars are both pretty good too. There's some shit on A&E too, though.

Paranormal State and that psychic kids show are two of the stupidest shows on tv.

Those were 2 of the exact same shows I was thinking of.



The interrogations are some of the best moments on the show for sure. Being a white Canadian kid, it blows my mind seeing some of the shit that goes on in the durrty South.

A&E rocks!! Haven't been able to get into this one just yet but I've been trying. I'm hooked on Wrecked,Cold Case Files and American Justice.

That US Marshal show is pretty good too.

I think I've seen all of them, I'm hoping a new season starts soon. There are two things I've learned from watching that show: pretty much every gang started in prison, and the downfall of the gang comes when they shoot a little kid by mistake.

Love this show. My next door neighbor is Ed Williams one of the Homicide detectives from Detroit. He's been on 4 episodes.

Nice. It has to be wierd watching hardcore crime coverage from your area in HD with a narrator and shit.

I guess. It's funny to hear his perspective on the show. He and his fellow dectectives hate being on it.

Well, this is crazy. My neighbor that I mentioned decided to go fucking nuts on Tuesday and MURDER his wife and kill himself.

I am just beside myself at this point. She had a 10-yeard old son from a previous marriage. She lived right next door to me for 6 years. She was a GREAT person. I just feel so bad for her son.

I can't believe that this man has been in my house and held my daughter in his arms. I was just over there for a cook-out on Memorial Day. I would have never seen this coming.

I don't know how to embed videos but the first one is the local news reporting the murder-suicide and the second is a montage of him on the 1st 48.

I'm going to her funeral at 4 PM est today. I have no interest in going to his.

Police: Detroit cop kills wife, himself at Canton library

Canton Township -- A Detroit Police officer was on her way to report a domestic dispute Tuesday morning when her husband, a Detroit homicide detective, fatally shot her in a library parking lot before turning the gun on himself, police said.

At about 9 a.m., Ed Williams, 36, of Canton Township shot his wife, Patricia, who was an officer at Detroit's Northwest District, following an argument in the parking lot of the Canton Public Library, police said.

Both were taken to area hospitals, Canton Township Police Sgt. Mark Gajeski said. Patricia Williams died on her way to the hospital, Gajeski said. Ed Williams was initially on life support, but police confirmed his death about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Canton Police had responded to a domestic dispute at the couple's home this weekend, Gajeski said. At about 8:30 Tuesday morning, a friend called police to report that Patricia Williams was on her way into the Canton Police station to report another domestic incident, Gajeski said.

Ed Williams met his wife in the parking lot and fired more than one shot at her for unknown reasons, Gajeski said.

Patricia Williams was in the process of retiring from the police force due to a hand injury and was planning to go into real estate, friends said.

"Obviously, this is a personal tragedy for the family, but also for the Detroit Police Department," 2nd Deputy Chief John Roach said.

"Since the shooting happened in Canton, it's their investigation, although we'll assist," Roach said.

Sept. 19, 12:30 a.m.: Patricia Williams came into the Canton Police Department to report an assault but refused to file a formal complaint, nor would she provide her or her husband's name.
Sept. 20, 9:30 a.m.: An anonymous caller reported a possible domestic situation at the couple's address. Police responded but no one was inside. Officers did find a handwritten note that prompted them to enter Edward into the statewide law enforcement computer as an endangered missing person.
11 a.m.: Canton's on-duty shift commander advised the Detroit Police of the situation with the Williams.
6:30 p.m., Canton Police received a call from a Detroit Police command officer who stated they had contact with Edward and that he was safe. Canton advised Detroit he would be removed from the system.
Sept. 22 , 8:57 a.m.: Canton Police received a call from an acquaintance of Patricia Williams, saying she was on the way to the department to meet her husband in the lobby for a conversation. 9 :16 a.m.: Canton's 911 received several calls stating shots were fired in the parking lot of the Canton Public Library. Officers were on scene at 9:17 a.m. Police received several statements from witnesses saying the couple was seen sitting and talking in the park behind the library just before the shooting started.
