I'm sure everyone has them, what are yours? What I'm referring to is that one book on your shelf that you have picked up several times, made it through the first 100 or so pages and for whatever reason (lack of time, a more immediate interest in another book, some crisis in your life that must be resolved, etc.) you don't finish it and by the time you want to, you need to start it over, inevitable leading to the same cycle.
This may even be a great book that you really want to finish, but haven't yet. Who knows? Does this happen to everyone?
Mine is The Fortress of Solitude, by Jonathan Lethem. It's is a really great story, but the passages can be a bit sprawling, dense and meandering at times, and I just haven't finished it yet. I think I've started it four or five times since I bought it back in like, 2005. Anyways, I'm farther than I ever have been in the story and there is no way I'm not finishing it this time. It's turning out to be a real page-turner.
