I took one step and they blew me away away to the place where angels fear to tread to the place where the bark is worse than the bite to the place where nuns go to die with rosaries in hand grenades cyanide odor rats and music.

It's interesting that you mentioned that line in this thread. MIA's "paper planes" was a huge influence on this particular poem. The imagery I have used ("blew me away", "grenades", "cyanide") were written with the poignant gun shots at the end of the "All I want to do" line in Paper Planes in mind.
Also, the title is a direct reference to the line "If you catch me at the border". It's that "if" that is so telling, isn't it? As a reader, I want you to put your mind inside Elian's. What would you do if you got caught at the border? As a reader, I would like you to ask yourself, "should I stay or should I go?"
