It's insane that this even happened. Opinions are welcome and hoped for.

(songs removed for now)

From time to time, my dad and I sit down with our guitars and play some songs with the tape running. It's a lot of fun, and I really enjoy it. We're gearing up for one, and this time he suggested I write a song for the occasion.

So I sat down yesterday to write it, and by the time I was done I had FIVE new songs written and recorded. Just couldn't shut the tap off. For the most part it's not really my usual style, but obviously I'm making a record of some sort here.

After five songs in a day I don't really have anything to write or write about, so I'll probably come back in 3-4 weeks, try and do another session like this one, and then keep the ones that work the best with the sparse recording. I may yet need to redo a part or two, as well.

i liked how you feel the best, because it was a little different and i'm a sucker for short songs. they were all decent though they get to be samey as they all have the same (good) guitar sounds and a similar feel overall basically. rolling wheels i liked second best probably.

I just listened to them all then. The first time I've listened to your music. They are really good, 'Rolling Wheels' is my favourite.

Yeah, I'm okay with samey. Acoustic stuff tends to be that way...even when there's a band behind it. You're better off trying to create and sustain a mood than make each song sound stunningly different.

How You Feel was fun, because I came upstairs for lunch and the neighbors had a car in their yard, the lamp post was in the street, and there were firetrucks and everything out there. Nobody was hurt, but all the neighborhood came out to check it out. Then I got a phone call from my mom that a kitchen fire did a lot of damage to my uncle's restaurant. Ten minutes later I had a song.

Just listened back to these...hadn't really heard em yet myself. I obviously need to rework the chorus of And You Will, but other than that I'm pretty happy with it all. A few of them I'm really thrilled with.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Do you have any idea how tickled I would be to get your feedback on a song?

Moderate to lightly tickled.

No, but really, we like so much of the same music and I really don't get your feedback much, so I'd be pretty wound up about it.

Yeah, I don't think I've responded to your stuff much outside of the cover contests and such. Will listen later today.

First impression.

Rolling Wheels is all right. Maybe my third favorite.

Mistakes might be my favorite. Guess I'm a sucker for the line about love and feeling brand new.

How You Feel is great with the build up at the beginning. It's got a nice vibe.

It'll Be All Right I think I need to listen to again.

And You Will is quite nice. I agree the chorus might need reworking.

Overall, I think you can be proud of this work. :nice:

That might be my favorite, as well. Nobody else seems to single it out, though.

I'll take that as a compliment.

Thanks and thanks.

Didn't really produce it at all yet. Just flipped everything on and played. I'd really like to add drums and bass to a few of these, and harmonica to Rolling Wheels, but I was laid out sick all this week and unable to record. So now the band is itching to get a little loud and I have 4 new songs waiting for attention anyway.

Rolling Wheels reminded me of this song:

I haven't listened to the others at the moment. I'd definitely like to hear a more elaborate arrangement, but I almost always prefer that.

damn, i love rolling wheels.

there are a lot of songs that are in the collective unconscious that are known as 'great' songs. you know... the ones we have heard a million times and that we can all relate to. i feel sorry for the rest of that majority... because among them, only myself and a few others know 'rolling wheels' and can count it alongside the other greats.

Well for an acoustic guitar and a vocal track, it seems like you've got some pretty good mics and recording equipment. Its a good sounding demo.
