The lyrics to Rats have been annoying me for a while now...........
They don't eat (YES THEY DO. YOU'VE STARTED THE SONG WITH THE MOST INCORRECT STATEMENT OUT OF THE LOT), don't sleep (YES THEY DO) They don't feed (YES THEY DO), they don't seethe (YES THEY DO) Bare their gums when they moan and squeak (WELL, THEY DON'T REALLY MOAN, BUT THEY DO BARE THEIR GUMS WHEN THEY SQUEAK) Lick the dirt off a larger one's feet (FINALLY, A FACTUAL STATEMENT) They don't push (YES THEY DO), don't crowd (YES THEY DO) Congregate until they're much too loud (YES THEY DO) Fuck to procreate till they are dead (YES THEY DO) Drink the blood of their so called best friend (NOT SURE ABOUT RATS DRINKING BLOOD, OR EVEN HAVING BEST FRIENDS, BUT EVEN IF THEY DON'T, NEITHER DO HUMANS)

I think you fail to see the whole song is an ironic statement.

Before you make any of these silly statements about the song, really read between the lines first to know what the song is really all about. I'm not going to sit here and define the song for you, but lets just say it's a great song with a lot of creative writting behind it.

Is it about saying a lot of things that don't really make a lot of sense and hoping that someone will be foolish enough to read hidden depths in to it? Worked well for God after all.

You know, I was checking between the lines, and on one internet page it was grey and on another one it was black. What does this mean? Could it be different types of rats? Or am I reading too much between the lines?

I've always thought of "Don't shit where they're not supposed to don't take what's not theirs" as one line, referring to the old fashioned habit of some burglars to leave something smelly behind before they leave. And no matter the lyrics, it's a fun song. RATS!
