I'm sure my roommates do but I don't really consider them friends. I kind of keep to myself around here. Most of my other friends listen to country music, primarily texas country...better than christian rock, but not as good as most of what I listen to of course.

I had to go to church as a kid so that partly explains my hate for it. It's just ultra-bland, every song sounds the same, the lyrics are terrible, there's always bongos and other lame instruments, stuff like that. It's like DMB minus the little that band has going for it.

I guess if I want lyrics and music that praise God, I'd prefer gospel hymns. I was raised in a small town catholic church with one piano, one guitar and a handful of people that were willing to sing in the "choir", so when I think of religious music I think of simplicity. "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles' Wings", those are all some of my favorites.
On the other hand, you have a movement in a number of the larger catholic churches in america called "Life Teen". Look it up. It is the antithesis of everything I have grown to love in a catholic mass. A large band with drums, guitars, keyboards, bongos, bass, solo vocalist, etc. sing the songs and even some of the prayers during the service. It reminds me of praise and worship and I just can't handle it.
I can't handle it as a music fan because it is everything I don't like in music: bombast, over-production, terrible lyrics, safe and uber-accessible non risk-taking types of performances.
I can't handle it as a christian because it seems to be taking church services to levels of entertainment and stimulation, and I think it distracts from the real meaning of it all. If it works for you, then great, but I personally can't find God in any of that.

Must be someone else you are thinking of. I'm not a dmb fan at all. I'm sure you'd still find my last.fm pretty boring though. I've been listening to a lot of aphex twin lately, that might please you. then again, maybe not. I never know with you.
