This is something that has been bothering me for a long time.

Why do we just accept that beef, chicken, fish, can be stored in a can for 2-4 years - not refrigerated - and be healthy for us?

I'm making Clam Chowder right now. Wolfgang puck. The most expensive canned soup you can buy. I think it was $2.50.

It expires in 2011!

How does this pass the sniff test?

Something is going to kill me and it's probably not the fish :?

Clearly these are not something we should be eating. You can't store dead animals at room temperature for 3 years.

Also, most soup costs 32 cents. How are they making money on this? That alone should be reason for pause.

Ha. It's all given2trade. I even made a thread about it. I used to think those were the words.

I don't know why more people aren't disturbed about this.

I'm convinced it will be like smoking. One day we wake up and announce canned soup is the 4th leading cause of death behind cancer, heart disease, and bungee jumping.

I'm glad you bought this up G2T because i have wondered this myself. I tend to avoid meat in can situations as best i can but a friend of mine presented me with meat pie in a can and it was fricken frightening to think all that meat can hang around for so long and not kill me
