After years of speculation surrounding Jason Lee, director Kevin Smith has posted a message on his Web site stating that he has a new name in mind for his update on the "Fletch" franchise. Zach Braff, the scruffy-haired sarcastic "Scrubs" actor whose star skyrocketed with last year's "Garden State," is now the top choice to follow in Chevy Chase's footsteps with "Fletch Won." Somebody get that man a bloody mary, a steak sandwich and a steak sandwich — and put it on the Underhills' tab! ...

WOOHOO!! :D

I just poked around the View Askew website and couldn't find anything. Where did you hear this?

I really like Zach Braff's work, but, damn it, J. Lee would rule this role. This is really one of those things I wish I never would have known about. Now, no matter how good the movie is, I'll always think about how much better it would've been with Jason.

Because he is not this guy.

The disguises. A man of action. This is my Irwin Fletcher. Don't make me start another Jason Lee thread.

Shoot! This man-crush is getting out of hand

I like Zach, but I am highly disappointed that it won't be Jason Lee. He's hilarious and I think he fits the "Fletch" image better, anyways.

Chevy Chase and Jason Lee can both pull off the feel of being one step ahead of everyone else while simultaneously being mocked by the characters around them, with Chase and Lee always getting the last laugh. Braff would simply be mocked by the characters around him.

I never would have articulated it that way, but that sums it up nicely doesn't it? Well done, Ensign9.
