On my own, basically, with maybe a friend or two. Plane tickets to Madrid in May on studentuniverse right now are 600 round trip with taxes. I'm thinking 1-2 weeks, see Madrid and other parts of Spain, with a weekend in Paris?

Definitely, travel when you're young and have fewer obligations.

Different question--I could study abroad, or I could go on my own.

Study--Structured, longer, ass tons of money
Alone--work my own schedule, cheaper, do what I want.

Yeah, I just checked into it--none of the international programs have classes...um...at my level in Spanish. Not to sound like a prick, but they only offer language classes, and I'm past that into the lit areas.

Exactly.

I say go alone, you'll have more time to see and do the things you want. Who knows when you'll get another chance to head over there, yanno?

I'd still choose the study one. People combine that with fun too, you learn a lot about all kinds of things, and it looks great on your resume. Maybe you can get some kind of scholarship.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

I wouldn't lock myself into a study program if I had never been to the country (unless we're talking about a short course 1-3 months).

go visit first, then you can decide if you want to come back for longer.
