Three years ago, when I was out of work, I got a call on my wife's birthday that ended up being the job that brought me to Phoenix.

Again, I'm out of work, and Monday is my birthday. I need to catch a break.

And no, I will not be getting laid on my birthday this year, as we had our "I'm too pregnant to do this anymore" sexfail well over a month ago. Hoping to get some tail in April if I'm lucky.

I won't be getting any birthday presents this year either. My present from my mother was a combined present for xmas and my wife's birthday (a new camera), which we got 2 months ago. My present from my dad is the Neil Young Archives, scheduled for a January release when they were pre-ordered, and now delayed indefinitely, again. My wife and I rarely buy each other presents because we consider it a waste of money, and we're broke now anyway.

I've decided to quit smoking weed at least until I get a new job. I kind of feel like my overindulgence over the past few months had karmic retribution on me the day after I finished my bag. I probably should curb the wanking too, but since I'm not denying my wife anything by doing it, I think I'm allowed for a while.

Maybe I'll get a Powerball ticket...

What is with people giving up weed this time of year?

I'm pretty sure that unless I get a job with a city this won't be an issue, but the thought has crossed my mind. In truth, it's a lot more complicated, and stupid, than I wish to get into here.

Also, unemployment is not even worth registering for in Arizona. It's like 1/6 of what I was making. I can't even pay my mortgage on it, much less eat. I'm not even going to bother. In Wisconsin and Illinois, it was like twice this. With a little help from my folks, I could survive, but this is ridiculous. Fucking Republicans.

Also, happy birthday, you're supposed to quit after birthdays, etc. Sorry about the wife thing too, my mrs. just seems to get randier and randier as the pregnancy progresses. I almost felt used getting close to the due date last time.

Ever given some thought to starting your own practice?

The only job offer I ever flat out turned down was with a bankruptcy practice in Chicago in 2001. I don't think you need a hell of a lot of experience to get into it these days though. In fact, I know I could get some work in that or loan modification pretty much whenever I'm ready.

I expect my next job to be a step back, and I hope it's just not too far back. I could probably make it alright on 3/4 of what I was making, but less than that will mean bad things for the ol' credit rating.

No fucking way.

PD, i know your know the UW-Milwaukee area fairly well.

I am low on money and food myself, and don't feel like asking the parents for more money. I applied for a job at the campus, still waiting for a reply.

In the mean time I am foaming at the mouth looking at a mini Patty's Burgers menu. It looks so yummy in my tummy, but I must live with noodles and ketchup for now.
