Let's be honest.

GD is a wreck right now. We all know it. Some of us deplore it. Some of us revel in it. Some of us don't give much of a fuck either way.

The mods could start "enforcing" the rules, meaning actively policing the forum and giving users warnings and bans if needed. We don't want to do this. It's a pain in the ass, and past experience has shown that such actions tend to lead to a period of general board disharmony between those who support the crackdown and those who don't. Personally, I generally like the current crop of GD posters, and I don't want to create a schism.

We could also simply ignore the problem and let it work itself out, but you can see how that approach has been working out recently. It's not unlike the state of the economy right now. Nobody's really sure what needs to be done, but everyone with a brain in their head can see that doing nothing is not an option.

There has been some outright mean lashing out at other users as well. I take no position on whether anyone deserves the abuse they're taking or not. But the vitriol has to stop. I have to tell my five year-old that it doesn't make him feel any better to say mean things to other people. I shouldn't have to say that to adults. I don't want to see anyone driven away from RM just because a few other users find that person annoying. This is the one area where I am willing to take enforcement action.

As for the general lack of quality posts (and glut of garbage posts), I'm not going to be the judge of what is worthy of posting or not. I've been down that path, and I don't want to go there again. So I'm going to make a modest proposal.





Please try not to be a retard.

It's easy to tell when someone is intentionally trying to be a retard for laughs. Sometimes it's funny, but like any joke, it gets old. Keep your retard powder dry and wait until you can see the whites of their eyes before firing off a drooling subepsilon post. Make your exhibitions of mental defectiveness really count for the big laughs, instead of starting several tardeded threads each day hoping to get a few chuckles and a few more for yourself when others give you shit about how stupid you are.

Make GD a better place for all of us.
