I DVR'd the episode, but haven't seen it. The one article i read drew a very weak response.
What were your opinions on his first gig. Is he going to be ok, or was it a trainwreck?
I feel bad for fallon. I don't know much about his comedy, but when he first surfaced, people loved him on SNL. And then there was jimmy fallon backlash and they all want to see him fail.
I kinda want to check out his show and see why the backlash happened and if he is actually pretty funny. Curious on the board's views.

It's only his first show. Nobody even knew who Conan O'Brien was when he took over the show but he ended up being very successful and had a great run with the show.

while i agree that noone knew conan and he turned out to be great, alot of people know fallon. i for one dont find him funny but i do find him to be the mac guy hitting puberty

I think that was a big advantage for Conan that he was an unknown, compared to Fallon were people already have judgements about him, and won't even bother giving him a chance.

Dear God that show last night was awful. The jokes sucked and he looked extremely nervous. His annunciation and ability to deliver from the cue cards was dreadful to the point that it makes you wonder how he ever got through the Weekend Update segments. And you could tell Robert DeNiro was clearly doing a favor for some executive. He couldn't have cared less about being there.

I liked the band. Lick for 10 has potential. I enjoyed Space Train.
If you're gonna choose a "big name" as a first guest, De Niro should be the absolute last choice. He's always been a horrible interview. You could see the sweat pouring down Fallon's forehead when he realized this halfway through the interview.

I really enjoy Jimmy Fallon as the new host of Late Night. The Roots are a great house band and the show has good writers. Last night Will Ferrell was on the show and he and Jimmy did a sketch about "Jacob's Patients" a Canadian soap opera and I havent laughed so hard at something like this in a long time.
