My roommate has decided to grow marijuana in our apartment. I didn't realize he was doing it, I found out by accident. Our apartment is set up so, that the the washer and dryer are in his room, next to his walk in closet. I was doing laundry one day and I noticed a weird purple light coming from inside the closet. I opened the door and his closet was completely covered in plastic and the light I saw was coming from a $600 lamp, made to help marijuana grow. There were several buckets on the floor, with a table in the center with some gardening tools. When I confronted him he, said I wouldn't get arrested if the cops busted in one day and found everything, because I could tell them I had no knowledge of what had been going on in his room. Since he is a bit of a dumb ass I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true or not.

We can use this thread as evidence to find you guilty when you get charged with perjury as well.

Yeah that's why I'm actually planning on calling the cops myself, cause he is kind of a shitty roommate.

personally i would ask for my share when it was done. and i would stay the hell out of my roommates closest even if there was a light shining through.

but instead of getting him in trouble and calling the cops and having to go through all that shit just kick him out and find a new roommate

That's what I was planning, my lease is up in August, and I'm already looking for some where else to live.

I'm from the South Shore, Marshfield, but right now I'm going to school in Virginia.

thats what i was thinking when i read your name. but seriously i wouldn't call the cops then you look like a rat and shit. plus you dont want to get involved with that shit. i would just tell him it goes or he goes. atleast try that before calling the cops..... but like i said me i would have no problem with it as long as he shares.

Yeah I wouldn't ever call the cops on anyone for growing marijuana, and since I don't feel like dealing with the hassle of finding a new roommate with 5 months on the lease, I'm just going to turn a blind eye toward the whole thing. Hopefully his dumb ass won't get caught between now and August.

It's kind of hard to keep your own bases covered while not wanting to report your roomie. Maybe at least express your concern to your roomie. That way, if your place gets busted, your roomie knows you aren't going to take any blame should it come time to explain yourself to the police.

When those plants get going, they're gonna stink the place up.

Yep. I had a neighbor and I was downwind. I'm sure the entire neighborhood could smell the farm he had growing in his basement. The whole damn street smelled like pot. Smelled good too!

But he eventually got busted. Lucky for him it was his first offense and he had a good lawyer. The state ended up paying for him to go see a doctor about his depression and paid his tuition to go to junior college!

I did talk with him, and basically said, "if our place gets busted, I'm going to throw you under the bus." He seemed fine with that, just as long as I didn't tell anyone especially my other roommate.

Not sure how to bookmark.

Depending on your browser, look at the topmost toolbar and you should be able to find "Bookmarks." There's also a "print view" option available at the top of the thread, as well. Print it out and keep it.

*waits for PD's insight on this matter*

If the place he's growing is in "his" room, and not a common area (like the washer-dryer space), I'd just play dumb if the shit goes down. He'd most likely take all the heat, in the end. That's not saying that you wouldn't be taking a ride with him to the station in the back of a black and white if you were home when the bust happened.
