how is that different from the USA?

Well, in the USA we hear about cases of people who wrote a lot to their senators demanding and complaining about stuff. Here we see our senators and deputies like entities beyound our reach. We are a latino 3rd country that believes only in the executive branch and think its up to the legislative just obbey the executive.

Last time I wrote to my local goverment official, I received back a form letter saying "we recieved your letter, and will respond in a timely manner." While waiting for "a timely manner" to pass, the bill I was writing about was voted on. Then, after it was too late, I got a response from said official. It was a generic, "we're doing to the best we can, thanks for showing concern, now STFU" letter.

The responses I received from my Senator and Representative didn't appear to be form letters. Feinstein told me that revisitng the tax exempt status of the Church of Scientology would violate the seperation of church and state, and Louis Capps referred me to a farming bill that was a token gesture at making subsidies more reasonable. I can only imagine these were written by interns.
