Probably not too many NHRA fans around here, but today was a very special day for me. Some may remember me posting about this before, but I have a close friend in the NHRA Top Fuel Funny Car Division, Bob Tasca III.

A few years ago Bob and I began an attempt to secure sponsorship for a Top Fuel Funny Car. After about 18 months we finally secured the funding for the Ford Motorcraft/Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center Shelby Mustang Cobra. Last year he finished 2nd in the Rookie of the Year standings.

Today in the third race of the season in Gainesville Florida at the Winternationals, Bob was qualified in the number 1 position.

In the 1st Round he took out Jim Head, in the 2nd round he took out his teamate, Tim Wilkerson. In the third round he took out JOHN FORCE.

In the finals he defeated his best friend, Tony Pedregon to win his 1st NHRA Top Fuel Funny Car event!

Amazing day.

Thanks Peeps. John Force is a 14 time champion. Insane. He is also one of the nicest people I have ever met.

I watch but really don't pay attention.

I actually have gone to the local strip in SLC a few times in the past years.

If you can ever get to a Top Fuel race in person, do it. It's worth going at least once. Bring earplugs.

That's awesome that he won.

I used to work at the track out here and I loved watching drag races. I enjoyed the motorcycles the best and I thought Angelle Sampey was a great driver.

I also liked the smell of nitro fuel.

My Boy Bob Tasca III just won on a Holeshot!

From NHRA

Wow, amazing. The win light comes on for Worsham – and his crew goes crazy -- but that's only because the win light was triggered at the quarter-mile and not the 1,000-foot mark. E.T.s of 4.71 and 4.73 came up on the scoreboards, indications that something was amiss.

After a few seconds, the announcement was made that Tasca had reached the 1,000-foot mark first and his sullen crew suddenly has a 180-degree emotion flip and goes crazy.

True e.t.s were 4.117 for Tasca, winning a on a holeshot over Worsham's 4.107. Tasca had a .027 light to Worsham's .104.
