Scene 1: Our second night we take a cab to Fremont Street from MGM Grand on the Strip. After a day of drinking, we are buzzed and having a great time. Each of us has a beer in hand and simultaneously realize it and start to throw them away before the cab driver assures us that this is Las Vegas and there is absolutely no need to throw away your beer in a car here. We're loving this town as it flies past our cab window on I-15 towards downtown.
We get dropped off in front of Binion's and head towards Fremont. Somehow we get separated. Me and Adam head to Main Street for a $5 buffet while we later find out that Justin and David found a Chinese buffet for $2.50 at Fremont I think. After a few shots of crown and a giant yard of what tastes like pure everclear, we unleash all kinds of wild energy on the tourists in front of a free concert on Fremont street. We engage strangers in dancing, singing, drinking and yelling. Justin had a video camera and proceeded to film just about every person on Fremont street while the light show was going on.
I really hope this video surfaces. It is a great example of how much fun can be had in downtown Vegas. People from all corners of America and Asia, drinking, dancing, laughing and having a great time. This was a night. Maybe one of the best nights I've had in a long time. Unfortunately, it ended with me waking up in my room at 4am to throw up in the sink. Our sink was clogged for the next two days.
Scene 2: Our friend Justin has a great idea for the souvenir for his girlfriend: get a $1 chip from every Casino on the Strip. We start at the MGM Grand and meander in and out of the nearby Casinos (Hooters, Tropicana, Excalibur, New York New York). In this fashion we make it all the way down to Palazzo, stopping in front of the Bellagio just in time to see the water show.
In The Mirage I lose 60 bucks very quickly to one of the mouthiest Blackjack dealers I've ever met. This set a pretty bad tone for the night, but I was later able to win it back in the Venetian. Somehow Justin and I get separated from the group around 1am. We slowly walk back, tired, delirious and half drunk. Those familiar with Vegas will know that from Venetian to MGM is a pretty long walk.
We realize that we didn't go in Bellagio, we just watched the fountains...so we cross the street and get a chip from there. This was one of my favorite Casinos. At the entrance, I was discussing with Justin how I would like to go to the top. I ask a girl standing in the doorway how to get to the top, and she says seductively "I can take you allll the way to the top". Of all the girls on the strip that I would have pinned as hookers, she was the least likely candidate. A real cute face with a tracksuit on. No matter. I flirted with her a little bit and then we walked through Bellagio. Beautiful casino,a All of the bright blown glass on the ceilings and tulips planted in the ground. Justin and I each pick a tulip and proceed to walk the rest of the strip with tulips in hand. The night ends with a few burgers at Fat Burger.
Scene 3: Friday night, our last night in Vegas. We had rented a car earlier that day to drive to Hoover Dam and the guy that got us a room had a flight that left earlier that evening. We planned on pulling an all-nighter with the car and getting to the airport around 3 or 4 to catch our 7am flight.
We missed a lot of the Casinos for the chip project, so we drove the rest of the strip hitting Circus Circus, Sahara, Riviera, Stratosphere, etc. At the stratosphere we wanted to go to the observatory. The fee was $13 and we decided that was too expensive. We had this brilliant plan to each put $10 on red and let the wheel decide whether or not to go up. It hit black. In essence, we paid $10 not to go to the top of Stratosphere. around 12am our chip project was complete and we went back to Fremont.
On Friday night the atmosphere was much different. No one was around. We played a few hands of blackjack at Binion's and the dealer hit three 21s and two 20s within 6 hands. What a way to end our trip. We loafed around Fremont for a little bit before we decided to head to the airport. We drove Las Vegas Boulevard from Fremont all the way past Tropicana and the Fabulous Las Vegas sign. North of the strip we passed all of the really seedy motels and wedding chapels. I recommend seeing these. Very crappy and seedy, but really human too.
Our trip ended as the sun rose on Saturday morning. I put one more dollar in the slots at the airport and boarded the plane around 6:30am, tired and delirious.
A lot more happened on this trip, but it's way too much to write. I really enjoyed Hoover Dam and our hotel. My favorite was Fremont Street, though. The strip was great too. We saw a Cirque de Soleil show called KA, and we lost a looooot of money betting on Texas to beat Baylor in the sports book.

I have never heard of this before.

That area is indeed rather interesting, but I would NOT recommend seeing it after midnight.
I'm glad you had a good time out here. Hoover Dam is pretty awesome. When I used to live on the other side of town, I would drive out there every once in a while.

This is what I like walking around with a giant yard or a football shaped drink. And that's what Fremont Experience is all about, dancing and fucking around with strangers.

This is a good idea, I have a deck of cards from every casino on the Strip

YES yes it is, but it makes it fun when your drunk Actually this is probably the only portion of the strip that I would walk, good you guys did the Sahara, Circus Circus, Stratosphere rounds by car.

I love this casino as well, but I might enjoy Palazzo even more, but that's just speculation because I have yet to see Palazzo in person.

Everybody that has a car, needs to drive the strip at least once during their trip starting from the "sign" to the seed wedding chapels.
I usually drive down from SLC, and so when we get to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, we get off of I-15 and get on to Las Vegas Boulevard there and drive from the speedway, through North Vegas to Downtown vegas then through the strip and before getting to the hotel go out to the "Fabulous" Sign.

@ LARGE CROWN ROYAL
The stand the large crown was in front of sold $2.50 crown shots in a boot shaped shot glass that you could keep. Great excuse to get souvenirs for your friends and justify paying for a quick drink when there were free ones to be had inside the casinos. I recommend that stand.

Yeah, really. I noticed flyers for $3 Guinness tomorrow night for St. Patty's. I would be all over that. Paying a few bucks for a cheap drink>>>waiting forever in the Casino for a drink. Three different times when i ordered at the Casinos, the cocktail waitress came back and said "wait...you had the gin and tonic? I forgot it. Stay right here and I'll bring it. I'm sorry".
what the fuck does this have to do with anything? People can't gamble and go to vegas? get over yourself on this one.
Yeah he's not taking the children to vegas and making them do as he does.
You sound just like the folks in Utah that want to make the bars in restuarants be behind a ten foot wall or in a seperate room because their children can see them mixing drinks and it "looks like fun" which would encourage them to drink.

Funnily enough, for a late breakfast we ate at this place on the strip called La Salsa Cantina. Breakfast was cheap and good, and the tables were wooden. Carved in front of my plate with what looked like it could have been with a buck knife were two letters: LW.
Mickey can confirm this if he received my picture text.

Fremont Street is really good, for cheap shit.
I don't know why alot of people hate on it.
I like fremont street, but I really don't like going there at night. Everytime I drive by I see a boat load of tourists wandering the area. It's better now that they've built it up.
Great pics WM, I especially like the Crown Royal one. lol
