What it is: The RM Interview Series is a way to get to know other members of the board and hopefully bring the community together a bit. Every few days or so, a new interview will start and an old interview will be locked and archived. Please try to keep this thread only about the person being interviewed. When it's your turn, you're welcome to talk about yourself as much as you want.

How it works: All questions and answers will stay in this stickied thread; all questions are optional however. When interest in the current person begins to die down, they will then choose (via PM) the next person to be interviewed. The person will also PM a mod to get the new interview started.

This is supposed to be fun! Hopefully there will be a mix of both serious and humorous questions (and answers!)

Will you break the trend of not putting links to the past interviews in your OP?

Is aprilfifth's significance the official end of the Marlins season? Or does it have something to do with some Seattle singers?

Thoughts on the loose snakes in Florida?

Favorite President?

Favorite historical figure?

Yet mine still has my old username :?

you are an interesting poster 4/5. What is your least favorite book and why?
Also, your picture makes you look a lot like one of my roommates. His name is Grant. It's not really you, is it?

Good one. Let me think for a bit.

dkfan9 wrote:

I'm actually about to start reading a couple books about Ancient Greece. I've always been pretty interested in the Greek/Roman world empires. Bible history is also pretty interesting. Technically World War II is "world history" I suppose, so if that counts then WWII by a country mile. Love me some WWII. I've never really gotten into English/European History for whatever reason. Until like 20th century. But at that point everything becomes so intertwined it is hardly pure "European history" anymore.

dkfan9 wrote:

Well I'm finishing up the 15th American Revolution era book I've read since last May right now, so I guess that would have to be up there. Strangely enough, I didn't get into the Revolution until then; I was always pretty bored by it. What an idiot I was lol; now I can't get enough. Besides that, I've always loved 20th century contemporary American History. I LOVE the sixties. Love the Cold War. WWII (again).
dkfan9 wrote:

John Adams. (Formerly my avatar)
I love the guy. He's one of the most singularly interesting persons I've ever read about. I think he's hugely underrated. I love him for his passion, strong convictions, over-the-top bombast occasionally bordering on absurdity, unabashed desire to always do what was best for the nation, his incredible legacy of letters and diaries, and above all else his absolute (or near absolute) honesty. He was not a politician. He was a true statesman. He didn't always make the right decision (A&S Acts--even though I'm inclined to place more of the blame for that on his Hamilton-influenced cabinet and his wife Abigail) but he always tried to do what was right. He didn't worry about political expediency; as a result he endured a brutally tough presidency without a party, ill-supported by the Federalists, attacked by the Republicans. But he never wavered. And he managed to keep us out of a war with England and/or France. Which in my opinion saved this country. And FTR I think if Jefferson was elected in 1796 we would have gone to war against England. (If it had been Hamilton we would have gone to war with France.)

Dude. I get this all the time. I'm a big dude. Like 5'8, 145 pounds. Not the kind of guy you want to piss off. Or else this happens:

Hardy har har.
1997. 2003.

Word.
dscans wrote:

Yeah. I used to be pretty Nirvana obsessed. Love AIC as well. I don't know why it occured to me to make this a s/n since I never used it before or since, but I did. And I've hated almost since then. Oh well. What's really weird is I was already out of my Nirvana phase by the time I joined so I really don't know why I'd pick it.

Trouser snakes?
dscans wrote:

John Adams. See above.
dscans wrote:

That's tough. If by "favorite" you mean favorite to read/learm about, there'd be a few. Adams, Hamilton, Jefferson, FDR, Churchill, Hitler & Co. Favorite as in admired would be Adams, Washington. I'm kind of drawing a blank. My thinking right now is definitely too focused on politicians for a good answer.

Least favorite? Wow that's tough. I probably didn't finish it. Not sure. I will say "Guns of August" is tremendously overrated IMO. Good sure, but nowhere near the acclaim it has gotten. I was pretty bored for most of it. There was a good stretch in there for a bit, but I was pretty disappointed with it. I did learn some good words from it though.
Oh in High School, Wuthering Heights. Yuck.

Sounds like your roommate Grant is a stud.

Wrong. The correct answer was "A Separate Peace".

Oh, interesting good. I lurk in your historical discussion threads, though I don't feel educated enough to contribute anything to them.

The blogosphere really came out of nowhere, didn't it? What do you think the past election cycle would have been like without it? Will blogs ruin media?
