Hitler was brilliant as well, doesn't make him not crazy.
Well the people we label crazy accuse us as labeling them crazy to make ourselves bfeel better about things, so what is crazy?
wanting to kill people is crazy
but the interview was really interesting
Im not defending Manson but its for good discussion...
we sometimes have no problem killing people (wars, assasinations, death penalty) and as manson points out...you have no problem destroying the earth, so really...whats the difference?

So everyone who kills is correct in doing so, regardless of context? Maybe Charlie isn't crazy after all. Perhaps it is just you.

Anyone else see the MSNBC special of the reairing of the mid 80's interview with him? Fascinating shit.
The guy can speak. It may appear as nonsensable ramblings but he's not too far off on his beliefs. He's an interesting fellow. Am I crazy?
I watched the last half hour of this the other night- and had a rather long discussion with my man about it afterwards- specifically about what you're asking- you can be crazy without being stupid- in fact, the most dangerous insane people are the ones who are smart enough to use people's fears, ignorance, prejudices and hatreds as a way to gain control of and use that control over people in a way that is 'logically' set forth by the mad person.
This is exactly what Manson did with his rather small group of people, and what Hitler did with an entire population of people in his country, and pretty close to what extremist religious factions (as in the Middle East) do with religion- they use the religion, or whatever prejudices are handy in order to further their own adgendas- which in these cases are always tied in with killing, dominating the population, ruling the world, whatever.
Aren't the most scary serial killers the ones who are the best educated or the most savvy about how people think, and how to use that to their advantage? Like Hanibal Lector- real person or fictional character, the scariest thing about him was how fucking brilliant he was.

I absolutely agree with you Malice, I am also reading this and drawing some fairly similar parrallels with the Bush Administration.

The discussion in this thread reminds me of the end of the Hitchcock film Rope.
By what right do you dare to say that there's a superior few to which you belong? By what right did you decide that that boy in there was inferior and could be killed? Did you think you were God, Brandon? Is that what you thought when you choked the life out of him? Is that what you thought when you served food from his grave?! I don't know who you are but I know what you done. You murdered! You choked the life out of a fellow human being who could live and love as you never could, and never will again!
