I would love to hear some of your stories, if you guys have the time

I was playing at a pee wee AA hockey tournament, and on the first day of the tournament my father found out that his hockey hero - Bobby Hull - was going to be in the same town for some type of hockey card/fan exhibition that very same weekend. Since my father was such a huge fan of his, it of course left an impression on me, therefore I also admired Hull. I ended up playing my best hockey of the season, winning the tournament mvp title. We went to the exhibition show a few hours after winning the championship, and my dad ended up getting a few small photographs of Bobby Hull to get signed. When we got up to see Hull, my dad suddenly was 12 years old again, saying that he was the reason that he wanted to play hockey. He also told Hull that I had just won tournament mvp and that I was a little shy to ask about an autograph. Well Bobby signed all 4 pictures with the message: "Dear Matt: Congratulations on winning the mvp!" and asked me several questions about the tourney...he was really happy when I told him that i wore #9, and that I wore it out of respect for my father's hero. I remember like it was yesterday when he thanked me for wearing #9, that it meant a lot to him, and then the handshake...his hand was gigantic!! For the non hockey fans on here, Bobby Hull is known for having one of - if not the hardest - slapshot in the history of the game, and after shaking his hand at the age of 12 I believed it

I wanted to start this thread because my dad emailed today and mentioned out of the blue how that was one of his happiest days as far as sports goes.

Since you bring up meeting you father's hero, I wonder what it was like when Vincent Lecavalier first met Beliveau(he wears #4 because Beliveau was his dad's favorite player, for those who don't know).

It was certainly a huge honour for me. When you think about it, Bobby Hull had a hand in making me the hockey player that i was. I wanted to play hockey like my dad - and my dad emulated Bobby Hull

I got high with a dreadlocked Texas RB, so I've fulfilled a personal dream. Doesn't really matter which one it was.

I met Bobby Hull at a minor league hockey game in Cleveland. He was there promoting some new beer he was affiliated with, and was signing between periods.

He was TANKED!

Heroes, No. Favorite athletes? Yes.

Meeting Yzerman was just dumb luck. I hoped off an airport shuttle and he was just standing there waiting for his wife to pick him up. He could not have been nicer.

Eric Karros was my baseball hero when i was a kid. when i was 15 I was at Shea Stadium and got his autograph and after the game he tossed me the cap he was wearing all night

when I was 16 my dad took me to sppring training and after the game I saw EK hitting in the cage, so I yelled out to him asking if I could take a picture. so when he was done he came out, asked the crowd who was it that asked for the pic, and had me come over and took 4-5 pictures with me and it was the best day of my life up till then

a few years ago me and my wife caught the cubs at Camden Yards and met EK again, told him the story of the hat and the picture, and he remembered me and gave me a ball he was using for infoeld practice

oh ok, stan williams was a pitcher for the dodgers, yanks, and indians in the 60s-70s

When I was in high school I really liked Bob Sura who was playing at FSU at the time. I loved the way he played and friends would tell me that we played the same way. I had a nice FSU Sura jersey that I would wear around a lot. One day me and my girlfriend decided to take a trip to Dorney Park for the day and take her little brothers who were around 12 and 10 years old. We hang out in the water park and I swear I saw him going up one of the water slides and tell everyone "You know the basketball jersey I wore here? I think I just saw the guy here".

A bit later we are going around around playing games, I am playing ring toss and hear someone say "hey I like your jersey". I look over and it was him. I said "yeah, thanks, I wear it all the time". He had just gotten drafted a couple weeks before and you could tell he felt a little weird and shy about it. He was there with his parents and sister and they were all saying how cool it was. I shook his hand and wished him luck. We saw each other multiple times throughout the day and he would high five me as I walked by or point and wave. I didn't have a camera and regret not picking up a disposible and asking him for a picture. I think someone in his family actually took a couple of us at the ring toss.

Oh and another thing, when the girl wasnt looking he snuck over the stand and laid one of his rings on a bottle and was like "look I won!!" but was just messing around. It was pretty funny. I also saw him playing the basketball shot game on those bullshit rims and he was missing a bunch of shots.

...oh, I would still have the jersey but the same summer I got all stoned at a party and passed out and someone actually fucking took the jersey off me when I was passed out and stole it!
