Cats use their tongue to take care of their body. It's good for scrubbing and combing this way. They use their tail for balance and their nails for grip. I don't understand the whole 'declawing' (torture) habit of some Americans.

Cats are much better. They're cuter and fluffier and they can sit right on your lap. A cats purr is the best sound in the world.
fluffier maybe, but cuteness is in the eye of the beholder. generally puppies and kittens are cuter than dogs and cats, but i don't see the cute factor of an adult cat. it's just a cat, yanno? i mean yeah, dogs aren't "cute" either, but i like them better. their smiling faces with their tongues hanging out, eyes wide with excitement when you come home from a long day at work...their tails beating against any near objects, so happy that you're home.
cats are sneaky and claw furniture (and other valuables) and are pretty indifferent to you for the most part.
