Tool, Killers, Lou Reed, Decemberists, Neko Case, Andrew Bird playing Lollapalooza...
The Daily Swarm | Read Full Story >

Chicago Tribune:

The Killers and Tool are expected to fill out the headlining slots for the fifth annual Lollapalooza festival Aug. 7–9 in Grant Park.

Multiple industry sources confirmed over the weekend at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, that the two bands will join headliners previously reported by the Tribune: the Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode and Jane’s Addiction, plus Kings of Leon.

The Decemberists are also expected to play Lollapalooza, though it’s unclear if they will be able to perform their new concept album, “The Hazards of Love,” in its entirety with additional singers as they did at South by Southwest

Sun Times:

But industry sources cornered at SXSW have added another exciting name to the list: Lou Reed.

The venerated godfather of punk has been performing his classic 1973 concept album “Berlin” in select cities, but he’s yet to stop in Chicago. It’s unclear whether he’ll be playing that piece at Lollapalooza or a plain old Lou Reed set, but either way, it should be a treat.

Also said to be joining the roster, whenever Austin, TX-based promoters C3 Presents choose to announce it: alternative-country chanteuse and former Chicagoan Neko Case and the Windy City’s devoted pop eccentric Andrew Bird.

I'll be nowhere near this festival, but it's interesting to see Tool's name pop up. I wasn't aware that they had anything planned for the foreseeable future; however, there have been rumblings that they're in the very beginning phases of working on a new album.

If you're within 300 miles of Chicago, you'd be an idiot not to go.

I don't really care about any of the bands announced so far, but I scored a pair of $60 early bird tickets anyway.

TV on the Radio is a very strong possibility, and that enough would be worth it for me...

They played only a 50 minute set last year, one of the best bands in the world should have more time on stage.

Not sure how I feel about Andrew Bird in an outdoor setting. His shows are supposedly very intimate. He's coming the pavillion (a shit ass venue) here in Boston next month I believe.

And yeah, TVOTR is one of the best live bands in the world right now.

He played Lolla a couple years ago and it went over just fine.

Save for Tool and Lou Reed, I'm glad I'm not going this year. I've been there every year since the fest settled there in 2005, and it just got to the point where I didn't feel I was getting my money's worth- even with the $60 EB tix. :/

I believe they have a big hole in their summer tour for those dates, and no show in Chicago a few months before and after lollapalooza... which is usually a sign that a band will be there...

Take it for what its worth but that's a damn good lineup even if its 90% true which is what its saying.

omitting the wrong six from that list would critically alter the festival's potential.
