Posted this yesterday. Ripped into the sound quality a little:
Quote:
Not sure if it the source as well but the sound on SoLaT is so 'poppy' I cant stand it. Too, too loud.
I'm not sure that the remaster is any better than the original CD, and the remixes? Had potential but....Too, too loud. Ughh! compression! (its OK to assume everyone knows I mean dynamic range compression rather than mp3 type compression, right?)
I will never understand making CDs sound like this. Compression can always be added by the playback machine (but sadly never removed) Shame, I have been really looking forward to this.
However it was lost where it was (with stip's reviews). Interested in others thoughts on the sound quality and the levels on the new discs.
im diggin the remix version...thought i wouldnt care much but i'm really preferring it to the original i grew up with. weird! thankfully i don't know enough about music production to appreciate if the compression etc is causing problems...ahhh the bliss of ignorance:)
There's a huge discussion of the sound quality in the SOTM thread.
